The Theme Sculpture Unveiling Ceremony for the Celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of NCEPU Held in Baoding Campus

The theme sculpture unveiling ceremony for the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of NCEPU was held at Cultural Square in Baoding Campus at 9:50 on May 13, 2009. School leaders including Liu Jizhen, Zhang Jinhui, Li Heming, Lei Yingqi and Li Shuangchen attended the ceremony. Presented also were President Assistants Mi Zengqiang, Sun Zhongquan, Lv Fangcheng, Guo Xiaofeng, alumni representative Li Xiaohui, teacher representatives and student representatives. The unveiling ceremony was presided by Chen Zhi, deputy director of the University Office.

    At the unveiling ceremony, Zhang Jinhui, deputy party secretary, made a speech. On behalf of the school leadership, he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the alumni and staff for their contribution to the completion of the theme sculpture. He stressed that since the establishment of NCEPU, this university has been constantly striving to become stronger, and has accomplished a series of brilliant achievements. Especially since ushering into the new century, NCEPU has formed a relatively complete theoretical development strategy under the guidance of Scientific Outlook of Development, including the concept of running school, educational goals and operating principles. Our university has acquired a preliminary answer to "what kind of a university we should run" and "how to run a university". On this basis, we keep being pragmatic, pioneering and innovative, paving a road of prosperity with development as the priority. Now with the ever increasing comprehensive strength and core competitiveness of this university, the social reputation and influence have greatly improved and all kinds of undertakings developing positively, NCEPU is striding forward rapidly toward the goal of building a high-level university.

    Deputy Secretary Zhang stressed in particular that NCEPU students have carried the torch both at school and at work after graduation. Upholding the spirit of NCEPU, they have established a brand and won great honor for their alma mater through their own efforts and performance. At the same time, they are giving support and help in a variety of ways to promote the development of NCEPU. He said that the celebration of the completion of the theme sculpture not only marked the enrichment of university tradition and accumulation of history and culture, but also symbolized a landmark in the construction of university culture, which will become the invisible power to enhance cohesion of teachers and students and promote vigorous development of the university.

    Li Xiaohui made a speech on behalf of alumni and expressed his heartfelt gratitude and sincere beatitude to NCEPU that has gone through fifty years of arduous course. He said that he felt proud to see great changes taking place at NCEPU, and that the brilliant achievements of their alma mater will surely encourage them to win glory for NCEPU with practical actions. The theme sculpture is a monument of memory, recording the fifty-year history of NCEPU, condensing the unique humanity of NCEPU faculty and students, and conveying alumni’s good wishes to NCEPU.

    In the bloom of fireworks, President Liu Jizhen and alumnus Li Xiaohui unveiled the theme sculpture jointly. Funded by the alumni, two sculptures of the same design were built in both Beijing and Baoding campus.

    As the ceremony drew to a close, school leaders and alumni took photos in front of the theme sculpture.

    Standing on campus, the theme sculpture will witness new brilliant achievements of NCEPU with alumni at home and abroad in the future!
