The Confucius Institute of Suez Canal University Celebrated Its First Anniversary

The Confucius Institute of Suez Canal University, which was jointly established by Suez Canal University and North China Electric Power University, held its first anniversary on April 1st, 2009. Participants included Counselor of Chinese Embassy to Egypt Wang Kejian, education specialist Lin Fengmin, vice president of NCEPU Li Heming, president assistant Yin Chengqun, deputy dean of School-Enterprise Cooperation Office Chu Jingchun, President M. El-Zoghbi and vice president Ali El-Zayat of Suez Canal University.

 


    The ceremony was held at the conference hall of the Confucius Institute. On the ceremony, achievements in promotion of the Chinese language, Chinese culture and school-collaboration since the establishment of the Confucius Institute were reviewed through a short video which was well larded with vivid pictures and textual description. Prospects for the development of the Confucius Institute were also charted out. Wang Kejian, counselor of Chinese embassy to Egypt,  expressed his sincere gratitude for the efforts of both sides on building the Confucius Institute and expected deeper cooperation between them to better the Confucius Institute. Vice president of NCEPU Li Heming extended his thanks for the support of Hanban, Chinese embassy to Egypt and Suez Canal University, and expressed his hope to leverage the Confucius Institute to enhance and broaden cooperation between the two parties in science and education. President M. El-Zoghbi of Suez Canal University extended warm welcome to friends from Chinese Embassy to Egypt and NCEPU, and stated that Suez Canal University will further support the development of the Confucius Institute, continuously improving friendship and communication between them.

    During the ceremony, leaders from Chinese Embassy to Egypt, NCEPU and Suez Canal University issued certificate of graduation to faculty and students who finished their Chinese training in this institute and wished them to succeed in the future and become friendship messengers between China and Egypt.


    After the ceremony, they attended the exhibition on activities to promote Chinese language and culture, enjoyed the Chinese performance staged by both Chinese and Egyptian faculties and the art performance by Egyptian Art Group.

    With regard to celebrating activities, president assistant Prof. Yin Chengqun also gave a special lecture on “Model and Characteristics of Academic Degree and Postgraduate Education in China” to students of the Confucius Institute. Out of great interests, many students expressed their hope to have the opportunity to study in China and posed various questions. Prof. Yin Chengqun patiently answered their questions.
