Vice President Li Chengrong Met with Dean of MAU Andrew Gibson

On March 26th, vice president Li Chengrong met with Andrew Gibson, dean of Electrical and Electronics Engineering School of Manchester University at the Administration Building, together with deputy director Duan Chunming from International Cooperation Department and other related leaders.

 

    Vice president Li first warmly welcomed Prof. Andrew Gibson´s visit and expressed sincere gratitude for his efforts to promote “2+2 Cooperation in Running Schools” between MAU and NCEPU. Prof. Andrew Gibson briefly introduced the history and overall condition of Electrical and Electronics Engineering School of Manchester University, and then focused on the development of the project of “2+2 Cooperation in Running Schools”. Prof. Andrew Gibson spoke highly of the NCEPU students majoring in electricity who enrolled in Manchester University in 2005 and 2006. He mentioned in particular that a student named Wu Ding who enrolled in 2005,ranked first in the overall score in her grade, which demonstrated excellent learning style of NCEPU. President Li proffered congratulations on all the achievements that have been attained since cooperation between NCEPU and MAU. He also affirmed fully the efforts of all faculties.

    The two parties later had a further discussion of the operation of the project class, the exchange visits mechanism for young faculties, laboratory cooperation and research, etc. President Li and Professor Andrew Gibson both agreed that electrical power and energy involved in this cooperation is and will be a key research area in a long term. It is hoped that the two universities, based on the existing cooperation, will deepen communication and cooperation in an all-round way to create better conditions for the international development of both universities.

    Professor Andrew Gibson and his colleagues also visited the key laboratories of the Electrical and Electric Engineering School.

    At the invitation of Deputy Liu Yongqian, dean of International Cooperation Department, Professor Andrew Gibson gave a keynote speech at 4 pm, introducing Manchester University and its cooperation projects with NCEPU to the freshmen from the School of International Education.

    The main purpose of this visit is to interview the 2007 student from Sino-UK class. So far since the signing of the Cooperation in Running Schools Agreement, about 20 NCEPU students went to Manchester University for further study and won favorable comments for their diligence and seriousness.
