International Seminar Held in NCEPU on Key Technology of 700℃ Ultra-supercritical Coal-fired Power

An international seminar was held in North China Electric Power University (NCEPU). It was sponsored by MPA Stuttgart of University of Stuttgart in Germany and NCEPU and co-sponsored with National Technology Innovation League of 700℃ Ultra-supercritical Coal-fired Power. The seminar was initiated and organized by Prof. Xu Hong of NCEPU and Prof. Karl Maile of University of Stuttgart, aiming at sharing the progress in the key technology of 700℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired power in China and EU and their achievements in the properties of high temperature materials. More than 50 experts from China and abroad attended the seminar, including Prof. Yang Yongping, Vice President of NCEPU, and experts from most German research institutions and enterprises participating in the EU 700℃ Program.


Prof. Yang Yongping expressed his warm welcome, on behalf of NCEPU, to all the experts present at the seminar. He pointed out that, as China is one of the few countries in the world with coal as major primary energy, the increasing pressure of “energy conservation and emission reduction” puts heavy demands upon China to take measures to improve the efficiency of coal-fired power stations and reduce the emission of CO2. High efficient and clean utilization of coal has become important for sustainable development of energy in China, and the key technology of 700℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired power has become an important direction of development. In July, 2010, National Energy Administration conducted, in the Great Hall of the People, the launching ceremony of the National Technology Innovation League of 700℃ Ultra-supercritical Coal-fired Power. As a member from an institution of higher education, NCEPU should make full use of its own advantages to promote the development of 700℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired power technology in China. Experts from home and abroad present at the seminar had an intensive discussion regarding 700℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired power technology, hoping to promote cooperation in this field between China and Europe.


The event provided a great platform for academic and technical exchange for foreign and domestic experts engaged in the research of 700℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired power technology, and created an opportunity for the cooperation between the National Technology Innovation League of 700℃ Ultra-supercritical Coal-fired Power and European League of the 700℃ Research Project. It also extended the international influence of NCEPU in 700℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired power technology and promoted the development in such areas as energy power, material and machinery. This seminar had a high-spirited atmosphere. After the seminar, all the experts visited the labs of materials in NCEPU.
