NCEPU Selected as the First Universities to Educate and Train Excellent Engineers

Currently, the Ministry of Education has released The Notification Concerning the Approval of the First Group of Universities Conducting the Plan of Education and Training Excellent Engineers. After the universities’ application and professors’ verification, 61 universities including NCEPU have been approved to be the first universities to carry out the Plan.
 
    The Plan is a great reforming for following out The Outline of the National Medium-and Long-Term Program for Education Reform and Development, which will also help China step from engineering education country towards engineering education power. This plan aims to cultivate a number of excellent talents with extraordinary innovative ability and good adaptability to meet the needs of economic and social progress, who will serve the state on the new road to industrialization, the construction of innovative nation and the strategy of reinvigorating. At present, the colleges that establish engineering subject are 1003 in total, accounting for 90% of total universities; the undergraduates who receive higher engineering education have reached 3,710,000, and the post graduates are 470,000. The plan will play a modeling and guiding role in promoting the higher education to training personnel for the needs of society, and comprehensively improving the quality of engineering education and talents training.
 
    Our university will adopt this opportunity to propel the engineering education reform in new era, to set out new standard of talents training, and to carry out the reform of talents training pattern, focusing on the improvement of students’ consciousness, competency, practical capability and innovation of engineering. Besides, NCEPU will also determine to build a number of engineering-type training bases in energy and electricity field outside university depending on the good cooperation between companies in board of councilors and NCEPU. Starting from this year, NCEPU will conduct pilots in Electrical Engineering and Automation, Thermal Energy and Power Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering and Technology, aiming to explore the new ways of talents training pattern reform and take efforts to cultivate a group of extraordinary engineers in energy and electricity field.
