The Fourth Session of the Fifth Teacher’s Congress Opened in NCEPU

 On February 26, the Fourth Session of the Ninth Teacher’s Congress was opened in the main building. Wu Zhigong, Secretary of NCEPU Party Committee, Liu Jizhen, President of NCEPU, and other leaders concerned participated in the Congress. About 300 representatives were present.

    On the opening ceremony, President Liu gave a report entitled To Implement Scientific Outlook on Development and Accelerate the Pace of Building a High-lever University. He reviewed the work in the year 2009, stated the general idea for development for the next step and made important work arrangements for the year 2010.

    In retrospect, President Liu pointed out that, in the year 2009, NCEPU had achieved great accomplishments in such areas as teaching, talents-training, scientific research, production, learning and research cooperation, international cooperation and exchange, campus building, finance and logistics, Party building and cadre corps development as well as students’ ideological and political work.

    As for the general idea for subsequent development, he said that NCEPU would follow the trend of higher education development, meet the demand of national energy development, further implement Scientific Outlook on Development, carry out the strategy of “Three-Phrased Development” and “Six Strategic Tasks”, stick to the goal of building a distinctive university and accomplish new breakthroughs in various undertakings.

    As for making important work arrangements for the year 2010, he stated that the year 2010 is the most important year for the implementation of the “Three-Phrased Development Strategy” and the school would free the minds, face the difficulties and bring the school’s work to new height. He put emphasis on the important work for the next year in the following eight aspects: working out the twelfth “Five-Year Plan”, intensifying discipline construction, consolidating education and teaching quality, improving scientific and technological innovation, reinforcing faculty training, further promoting internationalization, improving the level of management, and carrying forward Party construction and ideological and political work.

    Chen Zhaojiang, Director of the Finance Section, gave the financial report of the school. Tian He, Executive Vice Chairman of NCUPU Labor Union, gave a proposal report on behalf of the proposal committee. Six excellent proposals and four undertaking organizations from 2008 to 1009 were awarded.

    Li Shuangchen, Vice Secretary of NCEPU Party Committee, Chairman of NCEPU Labor Union, presided over the meeting. After the ceremony, these representatives will further study and discuss President Liu’s report, and review carefully the financial report as well as the proposal report.

    Besides retired school leaders, CPC representatives and CPPCC members, representatives of democratic parties, representatives of academic leaders, some other leaders concerned were also present at the conference.
