NCEPU and Suzhou Co-build School Sites Cooperation Entity

“The Central Enterprise · Suzhou Cooperation and Development Earnest Talk and Cooperation Signing Ceremony” was held in the People’s Congress Hall on February 23. NCEPU and Suzhou signed an agreement to co-build Suzhou Research Institute of North China Electric Power University. The two parties will have deep cooperation in the aspects of scientific research, achievement transformation and talents training, marking the gaining of the substantial outcome in bilateral school sites cooperation and a breakthrough of NCEPU on the model of school sites cooperation. President Liu Jizhen and Vice President Yang Yongping attended the signing ceremony.

    Since the signing of the comprehensive cooperation agreement between NCEPU and Suzhou Government on October 28th, 2009, leaders of NCEPU have given profound attention to this agreement and demanded to strike out and accelerate the process, and relative departments have carried out a serial of investigations, talks and discussions on concrete cooperation. In the beginning of 2010, the two parties reached consensus: to co-build Suzhou Research Institute of North China Electric Power University in the Suzhou Industrial Park funded by Suzhou municipal government.

    NCEPU would build the institute focusing on the key industries of smart grid, new energy, new material and environmental production industry. Relying on the institute, 8 to 10 labs (or engineering (technology) research center) will be built within three years and 10 to 15 excellent research teams will be sent to the institute. The institute would explore innovative management system and running mechanism, build research-oriented innovation entity, and finally become the “special zone” leading university innovation and development.

    Yang Yongping, Vice President of NCEPU and Yang Zhiping, director of Administrative Committee of Suzhou Industrial Park, signed the agreement.
