Other guests were Huang Jin, President of China University of Political Science and Law, Wang Younian, President of Beijing University of Agriculture, Wang Yonggan, former Secretary of China Electricity Council, Li Jianxiao and Sun Tao, executive chairmen of China Students Federation, He Qun, Secretary of Discipline Inspection Committee at Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, Duan Gang, Director at Changping Branch of Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning and Fan Zheng, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Changping District Committee and so on.

NCEPU and the South Shore Orchestra exchanged gifts before the start of the concert. Mr. Hao presented the orchestra with a souvenir with NCEPU badge printed on the top and the silk painting Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, while the orchestra master gave a baton in return.

Then the concert began with the jubilant Spring Prelude. At the very beginning, Violinist Meiden played the familiar selection of China’s classical the Butterfly Lovers. Then, the ensemble performed the erhu music Beautiful Night, which made audience feel as if they had been in a peaceful New Year’s Eve. Continuously, Song for Brave Man brought down the hall and the audience applauded to the rhythm to show their love to the song and their respect to the singer.

After that, young singer Jin Jin, from Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater, sang My Motherland and I to show his love for our country and his voice smoothly echoed in the air. Then, his colleague tenor Yan Shengmin moved all the people at present by O Solo Mio. Yan’s deep, booming and beautiful high voice made it possible for us to review this classical song. Later, Jin and Yan performed the Song of Changjiang River with soprano Catherine and baritone Peter whose good pronunciation in Chinese won the cheers and applauses from the audience.

Besides familiar Chinese famous music, the orchestra also led us to exotic culture. What’s more, when singing the waltz Voice of Spring, soprano Catherine showed the complex changes of coloratura technique while tenor Peter attracted the audience by his humorous imitating animal sounds in his solo Old American Songs.

Violin Concerto 1st Movement is violinist Meden’s awarded chapter and his devoted expression and special rhythm control presented us with his deep understanding of the music. Bugler’s Holiday gave a most telling exposure of trumpet; the West Side Story highlighted the changed and flexibility of piano tones; the Stars and Stripes Forever and the repertoire Pull a Gauss Match vividly integrated the characteristics of each instrument, which revealed the beauty of delicacy and softness in greatness and presented the audience with an auditory feast.

In the beautiful melody of the Same Song, the concert reached its ending and marked that the 4th art festival of NCEPU achieved a successful close.
