Liu Jizhen and Yang Yongping are Appointed Members of the New Committee on Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education organized the 2009 General Assembly of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST) and the conference for member-shifting from Dec 22nd to 24th. Minister of Education Yuan Guiren, Vice Minister of Education Chen Xi, assistant minister of Education Lin Huiqing, and relevant leaders of National Development and Reform Committee, Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Finance, along with over 300 newly elected members of the 6th Committee on Science and Technology from all over China attended the meeting. Liu Jizhen, President of NCEPU, was employed as member of the sixth committee on Science and Technology of the Minister of Education, general executive deputy director of “Mechatronics and Carriage Department” and “member of Construction of Study Style Committee of the committee on Science and Technology of the Minister of Education”. He attended the preliminary conference organized by director of the committee on Science and Technology and general executive deputy director from 22nd to 24th. Meanwhile, as a representative of the new members, he came to the stage to accept the letter of appointment by leaders. As the general executive deputy director of Mechatronics and Carriage Department, Liu Jizhen presided over the group discussion on the 24th meeting.

    Chen Xi, Vice Minister of Education, spoke high of the work done by the committee on Science and Technology in 2009. At the same time, he hoped that members of the new committee would play a larger part in the country’s strategic development in the new period.

    Leaders of National Development and Reform Committee, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance and relevant departments gave report on the lines of thinking in work of 2010, and announced the 10 breakthroughs of 2009 in Science and Technology of institutions of higher education”. Leaders of Ministry of Education awarded the certificates to selected universities.

    The new Committee on Science and Technology consists of 11 departments, a guiding committee on strategic research, plus a committee on construction of study style. NCEPU was selected as the sponsor of the Mechatronics and Carriage Department. In the following years, under the leadership of the Committee on Science and Technology, NCEPU would better finish the work of the department and serve all the members.

    Yang Yongping, Vice President of NCEPU, was employed as member of the “Energy and Civil Construction and Water Conversation Department”.
