School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of North China Electric Power University, formerly known as the Department of Electrical Engineering, was established in 1958. In 1961, the Faculty of Power Plant and Power System and the Faculty of High Voltage Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology integrated into the Department of Electrical Engineering, which is the foundation of the school. Experiencing relocation, adjustment, consolidation and development, the former School of Electrical Engineering and the former School of Electronics and Information Engineering integrated into the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in July 2006. Now the college has established an institute headquarters in Beijing and two departments in Baoding, including the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Electronic and Communication Engineering. School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering adhere to the connotation of development-oriented and deepening education reform constantly. The personnel training level and quality improved steadily. A team of teachers with good quality, reasonable structure and vitality are formed. Disciplinary advantages and characteristics are getting more significant. Our aim is to face the social development and serve power industry. With continuous improvement of scientific research strength and the overall level, scientific research achieves a lot of outstanding results, which has made outstanding contributions to our school. Thus, the social influence is expanding day by day.

 

The school has Power System and Its Automation as national key discipline and Electrical Engineering as Beijing key discipline. At present, the school has established one post-doctoral research station: Electrical Engineering, one first-level disciplines for Doctor’s Degree: Electrical Engineering, two first-level disciplines for Master’s Degree: Communication Engineering and Electronic Science and Technology, two second-level disciplines for Master’s Degree: Agricultural Electrification and Automation and two Engineering disciplines for Master’s Degree: Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communications Engineering. The school has 7 undergraduate majors, including Electrical Engineering and Automation, Communication Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Electronic Information Science and Technology, Smart Grid Information Engineering, Agricultural Electrification and Automation. The disciplinary system integrating electrical and information has been formed. The school has two national characteristics of professional, that are Electrical Engineering and Its Automation and Smart Grid Information Engineering. Electrical Engineering and Its Automation is Chinese ‘Excellent Engineer Training Program’ first selected professional, which won professional certification from the National Engineering Education Professional Certification Committee in 2008. The school has 3 national boutique resources sharing class, including Electrical, Electromagnetic and Power System Relay Protection Principle. The school has a number of provincial and ministerial level boutique resource sharing class, including Circuit theory, Power System Analysis, High Voltage Engineering, Electronic Technology, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing and Optical Fiber Communication.

 

The school possesses a high-quality teaching staff with a total number of 410 professional teachers, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, two scholars of ‘the Thousand Talents Plan’ of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC , one scholar of National Science Foundation for Outstanding Young Scientists, one scholar of Million People Plan Scientific and Technological Innovation Leading Talent, two scholars of National One Million Talent Project Selected People, one scholar of Chinese Academy of Sciences 100 People Plan, one scholar of National Youth Plan of Experts, three scholars of New Century Talents of the Ministry of Education. The school has 51 PhD tutors and 97 professors. There are one National Famous Teacher, one National Model Teacher and 6 Provincial and Ministerial Level Famous Teacher. The school has formed a teaching team with good morality and a higher level of teaching and research lead by academician of the Academy of Engineering and doctoral tutor for academic leaders, constructed by young teachers. In 2016, there are 8176 students, including 192 PhD candidates, 2184 postgraduate students and 5800 undergraduate students./

There are many innovative research teams and bases, including Electric Power Science and Engineering ‘985 Project’ Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform, State Key Laboratory of Renewable Energy Power System, National Renewable Energy Systems International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, Key Laboratory of High Voltage Technology and Electromagnetic Compatibility of Beijing, Key Laboratory of Power Transmission and Transformation Equipment Security and Defense of Hebei Province, Research Center of Engineering Technology of Ministry of Education, Energy and Power Information Security Beijing Engineering Research Center, Smart Grid Security Beijing International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, Power System Protection and Security Strategy Defense Ministry of Education Innovation Team, Large grid protection and security and defense colleges Introducing Talents of Discipline Plan (‘111’ Innovation Attracting Intellectual Base), Outstanding Teaching Team in Beijing of Relay Protection, Outstanding Teaching Team in Beijing of Electromagnetic Field, Outstanding Teaching Team in Hebei Province of Basic Courses in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Beijing Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. These innovative research teams and bases provides a first-class research conditions and platforms for personnel training, academic research and technological innovation.

 

In recent years, the school has undertaken a significant increase in the capacity of major national research tasks. The funds of scientific research projects are growing steady with striking results. Since 2012, the school Presided over 14 major projects of national Ministry of science and technology, including 973 Program, Support Plan, 863 Program and National Key R & D Projects, presided over 9 major fund projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of major scientific research equipment R & D projects, major / key projects and major international cooperation projects, Presided over 133 surface and youth projects. The total funding is 196 million yuan. The results include three national science and technology awards, more than 60 provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards, more than 360 invention patents, more than 20 monographs, more than 800 SCI papers (24 papers were cited by ESI). The discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was selected by QS global top disciplines.

 

Relying on the University Council platform, the school reached a strategic cooperative relationship with more than 30 domestic and foreign energy and power companies and local governments. We shared major R & D projects. Since 2012, We signed more than 620 scientific and technological projects with the main scientific and technological innovation enterprises of Council member. The research funding amount is 428 million yuan. 172 invention patents achieve transformation to practical application, resulting in economic benefits more than 500 million yuan.

 

Relying on the ‘111’ Innovation Attracting Intellectual Base and Renewable Energy Power System International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Base, the school extensively carry out international cooperation. The school has established a good relationship of cooperation with more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Canada, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. The school has held eight major domestic and international academic conferences, including International Conference on Renewable Energy Power Generation and PMU International Standards Seminar. The school has established a number of international scientific and technological cooperation platform including China - EU Renewable Energy Innovation Center.
