Commencement of the 2023 Track and Field Sports Meeting at North China Electric Power University

On the morning of October 21, the 2023 Track and Field Sports Meeting at North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) officially began. Zhou Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of NCEPU; He Hua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of NCEPU; Lu Wei, Standing Committee and Vice President of the Party Committee of NCEPU; Liu Wei, Standing Committee and Vice President of the Party Committee of NCEPU ; Liu Yunpeng, Standing Committee and Vice President of the Party Committee of NCEPU attended the opening ceremony. Heads of relevant department and representatives from both faculty and students bodies were present.

Liu Yunpeng hosted the opening ceremony with Zhou Jian officially declaring the commencement of the 2023 Track and Field Sports Meeting at North China Electric Power University.

In his speech, Liu Wei, representing the Party Committee of NCEPU, expressed warm congratulations on the successful initiation of the sports meeting, and heartfelt thanks to the faculty，students and staff who contributed tirelessly to this event. Meanwhile, he extended his sincerest respect to the athletes and referees participating in the games.

He highlighted that the university has been actively implementing reforms in physical education, deepening its integration, and continuously achieving significant advancements.

He reflected on the recent achievements of the university in competitive sports, and expressed his hope that everyone would continue to carry forward the Olympic spirit of "faster, higher, stronger and together", inherit the Chinese sports spirit of “Strive for national glory, selfless dedication, being scientific and realistic, law-abiding, unity and cooperation, tenacity and hard work”.

Liu Wei mentioned that the faculty and students at NCEPU should strive fearlessly in the arena and face challenges bravely, embodying the power of unity and resilience. Their heroic demeanour, enthusiasm, and fighting spirit will paint a dynamic image of a healthy China and a sporting powerhouse, contributing to the rejuvenation of a strong nation. He emphasized that the faculty and students are set to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the university with great achievements, and urged them to make new and greater contributions to accelerating the development of a high-level research university with distinctive characteristics.

The opening ceremony consists of two parts: "Dancing Youth" and "Rhythmic youth". Students, donned in traditional attire and holding red fans, exhibited graceful and agile movements as they danced, encapsulating in the fearless spirit of youth in North China Electric Power University.

Hundreds of individuals, dressed in pink and blue, formed a square, and their movements resemble countless musical notes in the field. Their swinging arms look like waves, showing the spirit of North China Electric Power University, a beacon of electric light. The performance team formed the figure of "65" in honour of the 65th anniversary of the University’s founding.

The track and field sports meeting was hosted by the Physical Education Department and managed by the School of Control and Computer Engineering.
