NCEPU Graduate student Chen Liudong Awarded IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship

Chen Liudong, a graduate student from Electrical and Electronic Engineering School of NCEPU was awarded the 2022 IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship for his outstanding performance, becoming the first student in our university to receive the award.

The IEEE Electric Power and Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship was established by IEEE PES in 2019 and funded by the PES Endowment Scholarship Fund to reward outstanding graduate students who choose power and energy engineering as their academic research direction, and selecting 5 people worldwide each year (only 1 in Asia-Pacific region), which is the highest honor for graduate students in the field of power and energy worldwide.

Award applicants submit their applications at the end of January each year. The IEEE PES Scholarship Selection Committee conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the candidates from three aspects: academic achievements, social contributions, and leadership skills, and finalizes the list of winners.

Chen Liudong, who received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from NCEPU in 2019, and in the same year, continued his master degree research under Supervisor Prof. Liu Nian in the Transmission and Distribution System Research Institute of NCPEPU for graduate studies. This year, Chen was admitted to Columbia University (World Top 6th in U.S. News ) Full Prize PhD Student and will be studying in the United States in August. Mainly engaged in the research work of optimal regulation of power distribution systems. currently as the first author, Chen has published 8 papers in IEEE Trans. Smart Grid, IEEE Trans. Power System, IEEE Trans. Industrial Informatics, Applied Energy and other SCI journals. Chen is also the deputy secretary of the vertical party branch of teachers and students of the Institute of Transmission and Distribution System, and has won the 2020 Principal Scholarship, the 2018, 2020 and 2021 National Scholarship, the “UHV” Power Grid Scholarship, and the Beijing Outstanding Graduates.
