Students from Baoding Campus of NCEPUbrought new resplendence in the “Higher Education Press Cup” Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) of 2013. Five teams composed by 15 students including Tang Pan topped other rival universities with five national first prizes. With this, Baoding Campus of NCEPU has won the first prize of the contest for six years consecutively. Only 21 of the 1000 undergraduate colleges and universities in this contest won the honors And most of them are“211 Project” and “985 Project”  universities, This achievement fully represented the strength of NCEPU in cultivating and training talents. 

       As one of the four subject contests initiated by the Ministry of Education, CUMCM is a technological innovation activity for Chinese undergraduates. It is co-hosted by Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and China’s Industrial and Applied Mathematics Society. The contest of 2013 attracted 1326 institutions and universities, 23339 teams (including 19892 undergraduate teams and 3447 college teams) and more than 70000 students from China (including Hong Kong and Macao), Singapore, India and Malaysia. And 273 students of undergraduate teams were awarded first prize.

       Baoding Campus of NCEPU started to participate in this contest since 1996. Through years of exploration and practice, it has developed a series of effective methods and accumulated precious experience in the teaching content and curriculum system and team building of instructors. Especially after the founding of “Mathematical Modeling Club” in 2010, it has fulfilled the organic combination of mathematical modeling contest and frequent extra-curriculum innovative activities. There are 800 registered members in the club at present. By holding special reports and lectures from time to time, the instructors spread the basic knowledge and methods of mathematical modeling to the members of the club.
