The 14th “Century Star” English Speaking Contest was Hold in Baoding Campus of NCEPU

        On November 16^th, the final of 14^th “Century Star”English Speaking Contest of Universities and Colleges of Hebei Province and the final of 2013 FLTRP Cup English Public Speaking Contest in Hebei was successfully hold in Baoding Campus of NCEPU. The contest was hosted by Hebei Education Department, Foreign Languages Teaching and Research Association of Hebei Universities and Colleges, Advisory Board of Foreign Language Teaching of Hebei Universities and Colleges and Foreigh Language Teaching and Research Press, undertaken by NCEPU.

        The contest set five groups- groups for English major students, non-English major students, young teachers, English major and non-English major students of vocational colleges, with a total of 212 contestants. In the contest of English major group, Wang Suxing of NCEPU was recognized with excellent performance in debate and quick answer parts. And Du Jingjie, teacher of NCEPU, showed solid ability in language application in the impromptu speech part of young teacher group contest.

        The closing ceremony and awards show were held in auditorium after the contest. Zhai Haihun, Vice Director of Hebei Education Department, Song Wen, leader of Baoding college-region cooperation group and Deputy Director of People's Congress Standing Committee of Baoding, Wang Zengping, Vice President of NCEPU, Mi Zengqiang, Assistant of President of NCEPU, Gaoming, Vice Director of Higher Education Office of Hebei Education Department, Liujing, Municipal Deputy Secretary General of Baoding and Li Zhengshuan, President of Foreign Languages Teaching and Research Association of Hebei Universities and Colleges attended the show and awarded the winners.

        Li Zhengshuan made a closing statement. He said, the success of the contest couldn’t be achieved without the joint effort and cooperation of every department. And he encouraged teachers and students to improve English oral proficiency, raise interest in English and gain strong ability in English learning by competing in the “Century Star” English Speaking Contest

        A brilliant gala followed Li’s speech. The various carefully-prepared shows including Disguise, a humorous comedy sketch, Dreamer, an energetic calisthenics and Angel, a beautiful female solo brought waves of joy to the contestants, judges and staffs who had been busy all day.

       The eight participants of NCEPU finally won four first prizes, three second prizes and a third prize.
