NCEPU Held Choir Competition to Celebrate Its 55th Anniversary

        On October 22 afternoon, the NCEPU union, Youth League committee and Arts Training Center co-organized “the Voice of NCEPU”- a choir competition of teachers, students and staff in the auditorium to celebrate the 55^th birthday of NCEPU. With review of history and expectation of the future, people hoped to express their love to university and fully showed NCEPU spirit of exerting oneself constantly, forging ahead in unity, dedicating to school and job and striving for excellence through the competition.14 teams from the 16 branches of NCEPU union participated in the competition. The Silver Age Chorus and Blue Power Chorus of NCEPU also presented brilliant show for the audience respectively. President Liu Jizhen, deputy secretary of party committee Li Shuangchen, vice president Yang Yongping and Sun Zhongquan, standing committee member of party committee Zhang Tianxing, assistant to the president Lv Fangcheng and Wang Qinghua and other department leaders acted and enjoyed the wonderful show together with nearly a thousand of teachers, students and staff.

         The College of Liberal Arts and the Education Department of Ideological and Political Theories united raised the curtain of the competition with their chorus show. And other 13 chorus from various colleges, party administration and auxiliary departments successively appeared with neat costumes, loud and sonorous singing and energetic spirits, leading audience to stunning audio-visual feasts with elaborately arranged school song and self-selected songs.

        The Silver Age Chorus composed of retired staff brought down the house as soon as they appeared on the stage; the Blue Power Chorus set up by Youth League Committee and Arts Training Center performed fantastic “Tea for two”. The brilliant show of the two chorus led up to a climax of the atmosphere.

        After a heated contest, the College of Electrical and Electronic Engineering crowned “the Voice of NCEPU”. The College of Control and Computer Engineering, the College of Nuclear Science and Engineering and the first union of school organ won silver award. The Book Network, the College of Energy Power and Mechanical Engineering, the united team of the College of Liberal Arts and the Education Department of Ideological and Political Theories, the Logistics Group and the College of Economics and Management were rewarded bronze prize. The College of Mathematics and Physics, the second union of school organ, the united team of Department of Physical Education and school infirmary, the College of Foreign Language and the College of Renewable Energy Technology won Outstanding Organization Award. The Silver Age Chorus and the Blue Power Chorus were honored with special distinction. University leaders including Liu Jizhen, Li Shuangchen, Sun Zhongquan and five judges awarded prizes to the winners.

        After presenting awards, President Liu Jizhen gave a talk. He said the NCEPU choir competition maintained a high level over the years. And this year’s contest was better than ever before. Only by building our own spiritual pursuit and with good mental attitude, can we strive for excellence in teaching, scientific researching and other work and achieve our ambitious objective of constructing high level university.

        At the end of his speech, President Liu extended his thanks to the NCEPU union, Youth League committee and other departments for their organization. He also expressed thanks to general faculty memberfor their participating and to instructors internal and external for their supporting. He finally wished the faculty member a wonderful life as singing and a vibrant career as everyone’s energetic spirit.
