In Robocup China Open 2013 closed on Oct 20th, the five teams of Baoding Campus of NCEPU won four 1st prizes and one 2nd prize. The "Little Dark Man of NCEPU" designed by Hanlu, Laimi, Caozhi, Zhao Wenheng and Wang Jiangwei was awarded 1st prize in humanoid robot racing competition; the “Blast Car" made by Zhongping, Zhu Hangjiang, Fangtian, Cao Chengsha and Wangchang won 1st prize in robot adventure competition; the team of Lixing, Lixiang, Lin Mingjie, Li Jinlong and Yong Mingyue was rewarded 1st prize in the photoelectric division of robot handling competition; the "Blue Light" made by Huang Shilong, Wei Xiaohang, Zhou Jianwei, Li Xiaohang and Wang Yicong was awarded 1st prize in the standard platform of handling competition; Lining, Zhao Shenglin, Liu Huamiao, Liyue and Tangqiang won 2nd prize with their "Happy Porter" in the photoelectric division of robot handling competition. As the most influentical and authoritative robot competition, the annual Robocup China Open has been held 13 years successfully in cities like Suzhou, Lanzhou, etc. This year's event was co-hosted by Robot Competition Committee of Chinese Association of Automation, Robocup China Committee and the Center for High-Tech Research and Development of the Science and Technology Ministry of China, undertaken by the municipal government of Hefei and Anhui Jianzhu University. Participants from 180 universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Dalian University of Technology and Tongji University, took part in the competition this year. The competition was composed of 20 divisions, including Robot China Tour, Robot Handling, Humanoid Robot Racing, Robocup Soccer, Robocup@Home and Robocup Rescue, etc. According to the competition rules, participants need to draw lots for the route, function of robots and the color, shape or texture of the objects that robots would carry. And the judges graded and awarded according to robot's performance accuracy and the time of completion. With the support of school leaders and Teaching Affair Office and the cooperation of the Department of Automation and Department of Mechanics, the Engineering Training Centre prepared for the competition meticulously. Liqi and Fangjing from Engineering Training Centre, Lin Yongjun from Department of Automation and Zhu Xiaoguang from Department of Mechanics worked as an instructor team for the competition. During the eight-month preparation, they organized students to make the main frame of their own robots for the competition and attend Translator: Zhao Yue Proof-reader: Sun Lied training for robot control by stage and in batches. After procedures of designing, mechanical structure making, electrical circuits planning, electrical control, program control and integrated debugging, students participated in Robot DIY competition on campus with their robots. The top 10 teams were selected to participate in knockout round of the university and prepared according to the rules of Robocup. And the top five teams of the knockout round were picked out for the Robocup China Open 2013 on behalf of the university. The performance of our students in this competition fully showed the effect of innovative talents cultivating of our university, indicated the important role the nation-level engineering training center construction at our university plays in students' innovative practice and presented the scientific and technological innovation capacity and innovative spirits of our students.
