On the afternoon of Oct. 12th, Premier Li Keqaing visited “Chinese Tang Garden” in Royal Flora Expo of Chiang Mai. During his tour, he kindly chatted with Shang Jing, a professional teacher of the Confucius Institute from NCEPU. Li not only asked about Shang Jing’s work place, her teaching and life in Thailand, but also encouraged her to be a friendly messenger of Sino-Thailand cultural exchanges. At around 18:00 of Oct. 12th, Premier Li directly arrived at the Royal Flora Expo of Chiang Mai after landing and toured the “Chinese Tang Garden” firstly. After visiting Chinese classical garden architecture, Premier Li talked friendly with Shang Jing, who was playing the zither and giving publicity to Chinese culture in Chinese Tang Garden. Li talked about the music, A Wonderful Night in Spring, a famous zither composition, with Shang Jing and encouraged her to contribute to Sino-Thailand cultural exchanges. Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, accompanying Premier Li, also deeply appreciated Shang Jing’s work. And it was reported by CCTV News on Oct.13th. Shang Jing, as the deputy head and associate professor of Foreign Language Department No. 2 Teaching and Research Section of NCEPU, has a bachelor's degree in English language and literature and is fond of Chinese traditional music instrument and traditional culture, like zither. She was dispatched off as a Chinese teacher to the Confucius Institute of Chiang Mai University in Sept. 2012. While teaching Chinese, Shang Jing also offers Chinese cultural courses and Chinese traditional instrument courses. In her spare time, Teacher Shang often plays the zither at the local school and scenic spots to publicize Chinese culture, which receives highly praise from Thai people and Chinese. During Premier Li Keqiang’s visite to Chiang Mai, Thailand, the preparatory group specially arranged Shang Jing to play zither in Chinese Tang Garden.
