On the morning of May 14, the opening of Graduate International Academic Exchange Forum between NCEPU and the University of Regina, Canada was held grandly. Vianne Timmons, the president of University of Regina; Sarah Taylor, the deputy director of the Canadian Embassy in China; Rod Kelln, the director of the Graduate School of the University of Regina; Liu Jizhen, the president of NCEPU; Yang Yongping, the vice president of NCEPU; Huang Guohe, the president assistant and the director of Resources and Environment Research Institute; and leaders of school functional departments, deputy secretaries of the various academies, and 35 graduate students of NCEPU and 25 graduate students of University of Regina, and maincadresof graduate classes participated in this conference, which was presided over by Yang Yongping and full use of English from the beginning to the end.
At the opening ceremony of the Forum, Liu Jizhen, on behalf of NCEPU, extended a warm welcome to the visiting graduate student delegation of the University of Regina. He pointed out that the coming of Vianne Timmons to NCEPU and the academic exchange is an important part of cooperation between the two schools, which helps to strengthen the full understanding and profound friendship and further enhance mutual scientific research and academic links between the two schools. All of these can lay a solid foundation for future cooperation and development. At the opening ceremony, Ms. Sarah Taylor, the deputy director of the Canadian Embassy and the minister of Political economy and public affairs, gave a high evaluation on the cooperation and exchanges between the two countries. The successful holding of this forum will further promote cooperation and exchanges between two schools. The representatives of University of Regina and NCEPU gave them speeches separately and encouraged that graduate students of the two schools should participate in academic exchange activities actively and improve their research skills and academic level, as well as contribute their efforts to the cooperation between the University of Regina and NCEPU.
