Students of Baoding Campus Win Greater Glories in American Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling in 2013

        The American Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling in 2013 was held on January 31 to February 4 and a total of 6,593 teams participated this contest from 15 countries and regions. Under industrious guidance of all instructors and through tenacious hardworking of 96 hours, 22 teams after selection in Baoding campus have won 11 kinds of first prizes (Meritorious Winner) and eight kinds of second prizes (Honorable Mention). The winning ratio reached 86.36%, and the number of the first prize and the proportion of award-winning are unprecedented in the history.

        American Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM / ICM) is a world-class competition, which is organized by COMAP (the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Application). It is the originator of the various types of mathematical contest in modeling today and one of the most famous international students’ contests. It highlights the originality of researching questions and solutions, teamwork and communication and the rationality of results.

        As one of the subject contests which attract quite a lot of students, NCEPU attaches great importance to the organization of the mathematical contest. We have formed a set of perfect competition mechanism of organization and training, which greatly stimulated the enthusiasm of students. As a consequence, the number of participants has increased successively year by year, and competition results have also been enhanced steadily, which effectively promoted the training mode reformation of innovative personnel and the improvement of overall education quality.
