Professor Niu Dongxiao Was Selected as Distinguished Professor in Ministry of Education “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

        Ministry of Education proclaimed the selecting result of“Chang Jiang Scholars Program”of 2011 the other day, NCEPU’s Professor Niu Dongxiao was successfully selected as Distinguished Professor of“Chang Jiang Scholars Program”, becoming the first and only professor in our school who has been granted such an honor.

         Professor Niu Dongxiao’s research field mainly covers Complex Power Grid Load Modeling and Forecasting, Analysis and Evaluation of Economy of Electric Power Technology, Intelligent Computing of Smart Grid, Power Crisis Early Warning Management, and Low-carbon Green Development in Electric Power,etc. Professor Niu has won Special Government Allowances of the State Council in 1997; in addition, he was awarded as National Candidate of New century’s Talents Project of Ministry of education in 2007; What’s more, he won Management Science Award ( Academic Award ) of Society of Management Science of China in 2012.

         Since 2006, he has won seven Provincial Science and Technology Achievement Award;  published seven monographs and 132 papers in which 55 were published on International Journal, 27 papers were indexed by SCI with the highest Impact Factor 3.56. The website named Nature that publishes top international authoritative research results and its major Journal Nature Climate Change published comment on a set of his published papersand give affirmation to Professor Niu; in addition, his researches were quoted by his colleagues for 800 times; furthermore, he chaired 41 different research projects which included 5 of National Natural Science Fund, the achievements of the rest projects had been used in more than 20 provinces; he trained more than 1300 independent developed load forecast software users, which produced significant economic and social benefits; chaired and has been specially invited by international conferences for 9 times; took the chair of international conferences for 5 times; occupied chief editor, editor, director of more than 10 Journals at home and abroad; occupied associate editor of China Electric Power Encyclopedia (comprehensive volume; the third edition ); occupied Vice Chairman, Executive Member of the Council and the Special Committee of 11 different levels of Society at home and abroad.

        “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”is a significant part of major National Talent Project. It is a Talents Project conducted by Ministry of Education in order to strengthen the construction of high-level talent team in high-level schools and attract and cultivate internationally influential leading talent in all subjects. Collectively, with Recruitment Program of Global Experts and Young Talents Development Plan, they constitute the cultivation and support system for national high-level talents.
