Continuous Enhancement in the Strength of NCEPU Disciplines

        Recently, a report titled 2012 China Discipline Ranking by Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Centerwas released by the Ministry of Education. According to the report, the disciplines of NCEPU achieved gratifying result. Electrical Engineering discipline ranks top 20%. Thermal Power Engineering & Engineering Thermophysics and Business Administration are among the top 30%. Compared with the ranking of the year 2009, Electrical Engineering has moved up to the 6^th from the previous 9^th. Also,the ranking of Thermal Power Engineering & Engineering Thermophysics has risen up to the 12^th from the 11^th. Meanwhile, the ranking of three primary disciplines with doctorate authorization, including Control Theory and Control Engineering, Business    Administration and Management Science & Engineering have also madesignificant strides up the list

        For the third round of the discipline evaluation, all together 21 primary disciplines with master’s degree authorization of NCEPU participated, covering most of NCEPU disciplines. According to the result, the ranking of NCEPU leading disciplines made steady progress. All disciplines ranked higher than the previous round. Leading disciplines, like Electrical Engineering, Thermal Power Engineering & Engineering Thermophysics, Business Administration and Control Theory & Control Engineering still maintained their position in current severe competitions. While Environmental Theory & Engineering and Management Science & Engineering showed great momentus of growth.

        The evaluation has been hold in 10 successive years by Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education. The third round of the evaluation has taken one year since late December, 2011, the subjects of which are primary disciplines with qualifications to cultivate graduate students and grant degree. Its participants are mainly colleges and universities (All “211 universities” and “985 universities” participated in the evaluation, except two “211 universities”.) with some scientific research institutions included. In total, 4235 disciplines from 391 colleges and universities participated in the evaluation, increased by 79% compared with the second round (from the year 2006 to 2008), 95 of which are primary disciplines.
