American Valpo Symphony Orchestra Performed New Year Concert at NCEPU

        On the evening of Jan.6, American Valpo Symphony Orchestra performed 2013 New Year Concert in the auditorium of the main building in our school. The Symphony Orchestra consists of Valparaiso University’sSymphony Orchestra and Orchestral performers in Valparaiso City and Northwest Indiana area. With the leading of Doctor Dennis Friesen-Carper，the repertoires included ancient and modern, classic and popular styles, which suited both refined and popular tastes, so that they earned teachers’ and students’ welcomes and praises. In addition, the famous violinist Liao Peiwen who came from Taipei joined the performance. The leaders of NCEPU who attended the concert included Hao Yingjie, Yang Yongping, Sun Zhongquan, and member of Party Committee Zhang Tianxing. On behalf of the school, Secretary of CYL Committee Lin Changqiang sent gifts to Valpo Symphony Orchestra.

        At the beginning, the previous grand and vigorous part of Die Fledermaus Overture delivered the keynote for the next light and cheerful part; Blue Danube Waltz broughtthe audiences to The Danube River; In Baritone Solo sang the aria——Mozart’s opera Le Nozze di Figaro, the singer’s humorous and funny tone and vigorous acting led the maestro to leave stage for military, thus, the intension of the song had been explained.

        The Violin Solo Zigeunerweise’s slow and sorrow tone expressed the homesickness of wanderers incisively and vividly. After that, the majestic La Forza Overture, like a powerful warning indicated the audiences the need of calmness, for life is full of ups or downs, all we should do is to keep peaceful and calm mentality.

        In Summertime, the couple in love experienced twists and turns, but love could not be fixed, a song Liao Duan Ba expressed the true feelings; the singer’s expressions and actions were humorous, the vivid performance told their constantly entanglement in love. At last, long-drawn-out and mild The Same Song began, audiences could not help singing along with the singers nostalgically.
