From Dec. 15th to Dec. 20th 2012, Vice President Yang Yongping paid a visit to the University of Western Australian (UWA), a crucial partner of NCEPU in Australia, and attended the 4th Sino-Australian Technology and Education Seminar. In the seminar, he had an extensive exchange of views with Australian universities and scientific research institutes, leaders of Chinese Consulate General in Perth and China-invested enterprises in Australia, experts and scholars on topics of talents cultivation, scientific research, cooperation and exchange, in which several intents of cooperation had been achieved. During his visit, Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the UWA had been signed and consensus had been reached on resource sharing, faculty exchange, and cooperation on academic research and academic seminar. Then President Yang visited the Research Center of Clean Energy of the UWA and had an in-depth discussion on the implementation of the “111”Talents Acquisition Base and future work plan. In the 4th Sino-Australian Technology and Education Seminar, President Yang delivered a speech titled “China’s Electric Power and North China Electric Power University”, in which he gave an introduction to development of China’s electric power industry, the school characteristics of NCEPU, and cooperation fruits with UWA. After the seminar, President Yang had an extensive exchange of views with leaders, experts and young scholars from the University of New South Wales, Curtin University, University of Wollongong, University of Queensland and Griffith University. Later he also discussed with senior experts from BHP Billiton and branch office of China National Offshore Oil Corporation in Australia on future cooperation opportunities.
