The Year 2012 Saw A Steady Growth in Scientific Research Fund and Dramatic Increase in Vertical Scientific Research Fund

        According to the recent statistics from Institute of Science and Technology, NCEPU’s scientific research fund saw a steady growth in 2012, amounting to 567 million yuan, an increase of 12% over the previous year, of which the vertical scientific research fund increased significantly by 25.93%, exceeding 200 million yuan for the 1^st time, accounting for 40.89% of the total amount, which marks a strengthened innovation and research capability.

        Having attached great importance to the application of national key projects and major scientific projects, NCEPU encouraged teachers and research teams to take an active part and taking advantage of rich scientific information at hand. In total, they have applied 882 vertical scientific research projects in 46 fields, 295 of which have been approved and funded by 206.85 million, hitting a new record in history. NCEPU has undertaken 16 projects of the National Hi-tech R&D Program (“863” Program), 10 research subjects of National Key Technology R&D Program, 6 research subjects of National Major Technology Project, 2 sub-projects of National Hi-tech Development Program and 1 project of International Exchange and Cooperation Program by Ministry of Science and Technology.

        The dramatic increase in the vertical fund results from the breakthrough of National Natural Science Foundation Program, the amount of which is over 100. Compared with last year, both the number of the funded ones and the amount of the fund are doubled. The average funding rate has increased by 5.5%, much higher than national average standard.
