Vice President Dennis Fizpatrick Visited NCEPU

        On December 17th,Vice President Sun Zhongquan met with Vice President Dennis Fizpatrick, Prof. Robert Schad,Prof. Liming Dai and Prof. Tony Yang from Regina University, Canada.

        Vice President Sun Zhongquan welcomed Canadian guests and mentioned that the cooperation of the two universities was of long standing and well-established, so did his friendship with Vice President Dennis. The two universities have cooperated closely and successfully on many projects that include the establishment of Joint Research Center, the co-conduction of “Shen Kuo Plan”, the Students’ Exchange Plan, the communication of professors and cooperation of scientific research on certain fields. Vice President Dennis mentioned that Regina University had placed great importance on the cooperation with NECPU, especially on energy and environmental fields which have been got great achievements.

        The international Conference jointly undertaken by NCEPU, Regina University and University of Texas at Austin will be held in NCEPU next year. The conference will be prepared actively as both parties claimed. The organizers hoped to obtain financial supports from governments and enterprises so that the conference would attract more excellent experts and scholars. On the other hand, “Shen Kuo Plan”, which includes a series of academic exchanges held by the graduates from Regina University and NCEPU, is going well through the two parties’ efforts. In June, 2012, the first phase of activity gained terrific academical effects and social responses. Thus, in 2013, the two parties will broaden the influences of the the project. The Canadian Embassy in China and Chinese Embassy in Canada paid highly attention and supports to this plan. Related staff from China Scholarship Council will attend the second phase of the seminar.

        About the academical communication between undergraduates from the two universities, NCEPU will develop Undergraduates Exchange Project with Regina University. This project means that both sides choose two excellent students separately to join this Academical Exchange with free tuition once a year. This project has applied for Excellent Undergraduates for Exchange Program of China Scholarship Council, thus, the related students may obtain the subsidies of international travel and living expenses. In addition, Regina University and NCEPU have planned and communicated the Summer Camp for undergraduates hosted by the three universities mentioned above in 2015.
