Professor Niu Dongxiao Won Management Science Award of Society of Management Science of China

        On December 8, the Third Management Science Award Ceremony was held in Hotel Nikko New Century Beijing. Through the strict appraisal by the review committee, two management science awards (Academy Category) have been chosen. One of them has been awarded to Professor Niu Dongxiao (Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong scholars) from NCEPU.

        Society of Management Science of China is a national academic social organization founded in 1980, the executive supervisor of which is the Ministry of Science and Technology. Management Science Award of Society of Management Science of China is the national science and technology award (National Science Awards agency permits No. 147) which is based on National Science and Technology Award Regulations and approved by the National Science and Technology Award Office. In principle, Management Science Award is held every two years, including academic and practice categories.

        The scientific fruit of Professor Niu Dongxiao- Power Load Forecasting and System of Large-scale and Complex Power Grid has won the Third Management Science Award (Academy Category). The main contents of his scientific achievement include putting forward the self adaptive quasi-environment intelligent qualitative and quantitative comprehensive optimizing forecasting core thought on the power load forecasting of the large-scale and complex power grid. It also firstly comes up with, sets up and applies a new research method in the international power industry field that can deal with qualitative and quantitative analysis-KEQQI methodology system, which has combined the knowledge discovery algorithm, environmental simulation algorithm, qualitative transformation algorithm, quantitative prediction simulation cluster and artificial intelligence comprehensive influence optimizing algorithm. Based on the KEQQI methodology system, it has built short-term and medium-term new power load forecasting models and developed the load forecasting system. It has built the complex power grid comprehensive development evaluation index system and large-scale fossil power plant comprehensive construction post-evaluation theory system. It has created regional power crisis forewarning management theory and developed the power crisis forewarning system. It has built China carbon emission measurement model and put forward the scene forecasting method on the emission reduction path. The website and the professional journal Nature Climate Change of Nature specially published a comment that has conducted the review on the relevant achievements and spoke high of it. Twenty-nine papers issued on the significant and influential international journals have been indexed by SCI.
