Head of Engineering Institute of University of Manchester Visited NCEPU

        On December 5^th, Professor Tony Brown, Head of Engineering Institute of University of Manchester and Professor Wang Zhongdong visited NCEPU. Vice President Yang Yongping met with the guests. Duan Chunming, Deputy Dean of International Education Institute, Professor Zhou Tao, Deputy Dean of International Education Institute and Jiang Liangjie, Deputy Secretary of General Party Branch also participated in the meeting.

        Vice President Yang Yongping reviewed the cooperation between our university and University of Manchester, especially the cooperation on the undergraduate education. Deputy Dean Duan Chunming introduced the overall situation, academic and scientific working as well as international exchange and cooperation of NCEPU and specific described the development program and relevant details on establishing the cooperation institution between foreign university and NCEPU. Professor Tony Brown introduced the basic situation of University of Manchester and the latest development of Engineering Institute.

        Professor Tony Brown said that more than ten young teachers from NCEPU have visited University of Manchester. After a period of learning, they have greatly improved in the basic teaching and English capacity, which is really amazing and outstanding. Vice President Yang Yongping said when he visited University of Manchester in 2011, he deeply understood the study, living and working conditions of the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education in University of Manchester. He spoke highly of the great fruits achieved by NCEPU and University of Manchester in co-cultivating the talents. Both the 2+2 students and exchanging scholars are the beneficiaries of this project, which also makes the both schools aim to deepen the cooperation in the relevant fields, makes more students and teachers gain benefits and represents the thought for building a responsible university.

         In the afternoon, Professor Tony Brown delivered a splendid a speech for more than 200 students from the Electric Project, International Cooperation Program of 2012. The students were full of enthusiasm and showed their extensive curiosity of knowledge. Some students actively asked questions and participated in the interaction with the speaker.

        University of Manchester (also short as UMIST) is one of the international first-rate universities with brilliant history, which emerged 25 Nobel Prize winners. This university has high international reputation. It ranked as 29^th in the USNews-QS world university ranking list of 2011. According to the British research university ranking list (awarded every seven years, British Higher Education official ranking) issued by RAE (Research Assessment Exercise) in 2008, University of Manchester ranked as 6^th . The international cooperation project between NCEPU and University of Manchester began in 2007, which achieved high reputation in University of Manchester. The students of NCEPU received wide praise because of their outstanding academic capacity.
