Contestants from NCEPU Win Great Success in the 2012 National Mathematical Modeling Contest

        Recently,the list of the winners of the 2012 “Higher Education Publication” Cup National Mathematical Modeling Contest for Undergraduates was officially announced, and the contestants from our university won great success in the contest, winning three first prizes and nine second prizes, among which one first prize and seven second prizes were won by contestants from Beijing campus, and two first prizes and two second prizes were won by the contestants from Baoding campus. At the same time, contestants from Beijing campus also won nine first prizes in the contest of Beijing district.

        National Mathematical Modeling Contest，co-sponsored by the Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education and the Chinese Society of Industry and Applied Mathematics for college students，is a nationwide scientific and technological activity, and now it has become China's largest basic academic competition in universities and the  largest mathematical Modeling Contest in the world.In 2012, 1,284 institutions, 21,219 teams and over 63,600 students from 33 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, Singapore and the United States, participated in this contest. Due to the excellent performance,the contestants from NCEPU eventually achieved outstanding results in the fierce competition of Beijing district,winning the honor for the school after 3 days and nights’ continuous competition.

        In order to strengthen the cultural impact of the mathematical modeling and expand its influence, Mathematics and Physics Department holds mathematical modeling contest, mathematical modeling lectures and mathematical modeling technological innovation activities every year.During the contest, the Educational Administration Office, Mathematics and Physics Department, Network and Information Center, the Information & Computing Science Laboratory provided convenient conditions to guarantee the smooth progress of the Modeling Contest. And the excellent competition results are also the best return for the support given by the departments and staff mentioned above, especially the industrious instructors.
