Students from Baoding Campus Created New Resplendence in the China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling of the Year 2012

       Recently, the students from Baoding Campus created new resplendence in the “Higher Education Press Cup” China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) of the Year 2012, they won two first prizes and two second prizes. So for, students from Baoding campus have won the first prize of this contest for five years. Among all the 1000 undergraduate colleges and universities in this contest, only 21 of them won the honors. This achievement fully represents the strengths of NCEPU in cultivating and training talents.

       CUMCM is a technological innovation  activity co-hosted by Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and China’s Industrial and Applied Mathematics Society, which orients to Chinese undergraduates it is one of the four subject contests initiated by the Ministry of Education. In the contest of 2012, 1284 institutions and universities from China （including Hong Kong and Macao）,Singapore and US, 21219 teams (including 17741 undergraduate teams and 3478 college teams) and more than 63600 students participated in this contest.

       Our university started to participate in this contest since 1996. Through years of exploration and practice, we have developed a series of effective methods and accumulated precious experience in the teaching methodology, curriculum system and the team building of the supervisors. Especially after the founding of “Mathematical Modeling Club” in 2010, our university has fulfilled the organic combination of mathematical modeling contest and frequent extra-curriculum innovative activities and formed a pyramid-type innovative practice system featuring “Public Innovative Education-Mass Innovative Practice Activity-Outstanding Innovative Contest”. At present, Mathematical Modeling Club has created its own brand, which has plentiful supply of members, training activities, supervisors, activity site and regular supervisor’s report and salons. It has developed as an outstanding team of undergraduate innovative practice in Baoding campus.
