On October 19, Vice President Yang Yongping and principals of relevant departments made an investigation tour to Suzhou Research Institute. Head of preparation group for Suzhou Research Institute Yao Kaiwen summarized the work done since April 11, 2010, when Suzhou Research Institute officially started preparation. He reviewed the developing process of the Institute and gave suggestions for the new leading team. Executive Vice President Wu Kehe expressed his thanks and put forward the four plans for the future work. He said that a more comprehensive study should be done on the infrastructure and planning of the Institute. The team should serve as the bridge between NCEPU and the Institute and help teachers know more about the preferential policies in Suzhou. They will also identify the working focus as soon as possible, acceleration the transformation of existing research results, and contribute to local economic development. They will also work with related departments in formulating good policies for recruiting and training programs. Party Branch Secretary Du Jianguo said they would work hard and make the Institute bigger and stronger. Vice President Yang Yongping fully affirmed the work of the Suzhou Research Institute in recent years, noting that the NCEPU party committees put a higher requirement for the development of the Suzhou Research Institute and hope it to become a window of NCEPU to Yangtze River Delta region. He proposed specific requirements for the future work of the Suzhou Research Institute. He hoped that the new leading team would strengthen the research and study, investigate the local policy and economic development positioning, and carry out related work as soon as possible. They should accelerate the development of the Institute planning, with the focus to the three-year plan to the year of 2015. They should improve various measures and make sure that all personnel, systems, organizations and policies are in place. They should find the starting point by selecting several breakthroughs and planning on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. They should treat the Institute as a laboratory for distant school-running, explore new ideas and adhere to innovation, making the Institute a pioneer in school reform. Suzhou Research Institute should strive to become a modern educational entity integrating scientific and technological innovation, talents cultivation and achievements industrialization, a high-level scientific research and industrial base as well as a high-level personnel training base.
