Baoding Campus Team Won Second Prize in National Undergraduate Smart Car Final

       The final game for Seventh National Undergraduate "Freescale" Cup Smart Car Contest came to an end on August 25 at Nanjing Normal University. Deng Song, Ye Lu and Wang Jiafang from Baoding Campus of NCEPU played well and won the national second prize.

       At the previous selection contest for North China Region held in mid-July at Hebei University, 205 teams from Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other universities participated in the contest and all of the six teams from Baoding Campus won prizes, including two first prizes, three second prizes and a third prize.

       National Undergraduate "Freescale" Cup Smart Car Contest is organized by the Automation Teaching Committee for High Education under Ministry of Education and becomes one of the undergraduate S&T contests promoted by the Ministry of Education. The contest is a creative technology race based on the study of smart car, the design of which covers control, pattern recognition, sensor technology, automotive electronics, electrical devices, computing, mechanics, energy and knowledge of other disciplines. It has played a good role in promoting knowledge integration and practical ability of college students.

       NCEPU has always attached great importance to innovation practice activities, including intelligent automotive car. A special smart car club has been set up and four smart car competitions have been held on campus in order to foster and train innovative design capabilities and teamwork spirit and to improve students' ability to solve practical problems.

       The excellent result should be attributed to adequate preparation for the contest. In this contest, the Office of Academic Affairs and Department of Automation worked carefully in planning and organizing. Teachers and team members prepared for more than six months and sacrificed their summer vacations. They overcame all the difficulties and worked extremely hard. Their efforts and knowledge finally turned into encouraging results.
