NCEPU Held the First Annual Academic Conference of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering DC Transmission and Power Electronics Professional Committee

       On August 21 and 24, the first Annual Academic Conference of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering Direct Current Transmission and Power Electronics Professional Committee was jointly undertaken by State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electrical Power System with Renewable Energy Sources (NCEPU) and Motor High Voltage Station (Tsinghua University) in Beijing Fragrant Hill Hotel. Over 200 researchers from colleges and universities, scientific research institutions, relevant corporations and their operation and production units attended this conference. This conference is a great success. Professor Cui Xiang from NCEPU held the post of the chairman of this conference organizing committee.

       Chen Feng, the executive vice-chairman of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Other attending leaders who deliver speech are:  academician Li Liyin, the chairman of the professional committee, Professor Han Yingduo from Tsinghua University, Wang Zengping, vice-president of NCEPU and Professor Zhao Zhengming, deputy-director of State Key Laboratory of Control and Simulation of Power System and Generation Equipment (Tsinghua University).

       The conference has received 223 contribution papers, 213 of which were used after appraisal. The content cover lots of technospheres from high voltage direct current transmission, flexible direct current transmission, renewable energy generation integration, de-icing current to power source and storage. The positive responses from researchers of operation and production and construction units tie this academic conference with practical projects closely. In this conference, 5 special reports, 100 oral reports and 113 wall newspaper displays are arranged. After careful reviewing and scoring, the experts selected 40 excellent papers, which will be recommended to publish on High Voltage Technology andSouthern Power System Technology. And, Professor Cui Xiang, the vice director of State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electrical Power System with Renewable Energy Sources (NCEPU), delivered a special speech with The Progress in Calculation Method of High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Line Ion Flow Fieldas its title.

       During the conference, half-day technology visit has been arranged. On August 24 morning, over 30 conventioneers drove to visit China Electric Power Research Institute Extra-high Voltage Experimental Base in Changping District. Besides, the professional committee convened 2012 annual meeting, with over 40 committee members attending.

       Many issues have been discussed in the conference: the committee’s organization structure, work scheme, and academic activities. And the organizer of the next academic annual conference has been selected. China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd, China-EPRI Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd, Beijing Sifang Automation Co., Ltd, Xi’an XD Power Systems CO., Ltd, NARI-Relays Electric Co., Ltd and XJ Group Corporation sponsored the conference, ensuring the operation funds.

       This conference is the first annual meeting since the establishment of Direct Current Transmission and Power Electronics Professional Committee, and it is also a grand meeting for the workers within the DC transmission and power electronic technology field. This success conference ended the situation of lacking national academic conference within the DC transmission and power electronic technology field, which is of great significance in developing China’s DC transmission and power electronic technology and promoting technology exchange among relevant technology field workers. All the representatives participating in the conference expressed that they gained a lot from this conference with wonderful specially invited reports, plentiful technology activities and good organization. Also, they hope the professional committee could often conduct this kind of activities, providing the workers within the DC transmission and power electronic technology field a showing and exchange platform.
