On August 13 and 14, the International Workshop on Synchronized Phasor Measurement Technology and Its Applications was jointly organized by State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electrical Power System with Renewable Energy Sources (NCEPU) and State Key Laboratory of Control and Simulation of Power System and Generation Equipment (Tsinghua University) in NCEPU. Over 40 experts and scholars from North America, Europe, State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid, Beijing Sifang Automation Co., LTD, China Electric Power Research Institute, Tsinghua University and North China Electric Power University attended this workshop. Furthermore, this workshop has invited Professor A.G. Phadke, the founder of synchronized phasor measurement technology, academician Han Yingduo from Tsinghua University and Academician Yang Qixun from NCEPU. Professor Yang Yongping, vice-president of NCEPU attended this international workshop and delivered the welcome speech. Professor Bi Tianshu, the executive vice-director of the state key laboratory, presided at this workshop. Academician A.G. Phadke delivered a key-note speech with Wide-Area Measurements in Power Systems and Their Applications as its title. Kenneth Martin, the president of PMU International Standard Working Group, delivered a key-note speech with Synchrophasor Standards and Guides as its title. During the workshop, Doctor Xin Yaozhong, the vice-director of State Grid dispatching center, and senior engineer Wu Xiaochen, the vice-director of China Southern Grid dispatching center delivered key-note speech on PMU application situation in the two corporations. Professor Joe Chow from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, chief engineer Daniel Karlsson from Gothia Power, Professor Willis Long from University of Wisconsin, Madison, Professor Bi Tianshu from NCEPU and Doctor Lu Chao exchange their opinions on application of synchronized phasor measurement technology in various fields, such as power system detection, protection and control. The issue of this workshop is fundamental, proactive and practical. This workshop not only strengthens the exchange and cooperation in synchronized phasor measurement technology field among domestic and overseas universities, institutes and energy enterprises, but also shares the latest technology and achievements of domestic and overseas PMU standard, measurement and application. All of these play a positive role in carrying out relevant research work and improving China’s international academic influence in this field.
