The Initiation Meeting for one project of the “863 Plan” of “Power Grid Protection Control Technology of Adapting to Large-scale Intermittent Power

      On the afternoon of May 10, the Initiation Meeting for a project of “863 Plan” , the “Power Grid Protection Control Technology of Adapting to Large-scale Intermittent Power Access”, was held in Room D216 of the main building of NCEPU. This project is sponsored by Prof. Bi Tianshu.

      The “Power Grid Protection Control Technology of Adapting to Large-scale Intermittent Power Access”, is the eighth project of smart grid analysis and optimization operation key technology project. Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), it was officially launched on January 1, 2012.This project would be completed in December 2014, and its duration is three years.

      Liu Jizhen, president of NCEPU and an expert of this project, Yang Yongping, vice president of NCEPU, , and Prof. Cui Xiang, an expert of this project attended the Initiation Meeting.

      The people who attended the Initiation Meeting also include: Zheng Fangneng, director of Energy Department, Advanced Technology Development and Industrialization Division of MOST. Chen Shuoyi, director of Energy Department, Advanced Technology Research Centre of MOST, Qi Donglian, Zhang Li, project supervisors of Energy Department, Advanced Technology Research Centre of MOST, Min Yong, the member of expert group, and professor of Tsinghua University, Wang Chengshan, the member of expert group, and professor of Tianjin University, Wang Weisheng, the member of expert group, senior engineer of China Electric Power Research Institute, He Zhengyou, the member of research group, professor of Southwest Jiaotong University, Zhang Tao and Wu Jingtao, the members of research group, senior engineers of Sifang Automation Co., LTD, etc.

      The members of this research group and principles of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and other schools and departments attended the meeting, which was presided over by Tan Qinliang.

      On behalf of NCEPU, Liu Jizhen, president of NCEPU and the member of expert group, expressed great appreciation for the help and support of the leaders. He pointedthat NCEPU would firmly support the “Power Grid Protection Control Technology of Adapting to Large-scale Intermittent Power Access”, seriously organize and implement this subject according to the regulations of MOST. He also added that the research group should concentrate on the emphasis of research from the real need, spare no efforts to solve the practical problems efficiently. President Liu wished the project achieve a great success under the support of experts.

      In speeches, Wang Zengping, director of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, gave appreciation and congratulations to the experts and the launch of subject. He pointed, the implementation of “Power Grid Protection Control Technology of Adapting to Large-scale Intermittent Power Access”, a project of “863 Plan” would motivate the development in related technical fields, promote NCEPU’s development of related subjects and research level in the field of smart grid. After that, director Wang Zengping introduced the achievements in disciplinary construction, scientific research, talents cultivation, and faculty trainingetc.

      Zheng Fangneng, director of Energy Department, Advanced Technology Development and Industrialization Division of MOST expressed gratitude and congratulations to NCEPU for the achievement in recent years and the support to MOST. Director Zheng Fangneng pointed, currently, making use of new energy, developing smart grid had already become an important policy of our country, which played an important part in relieving energy and environment stress, solving energy structural problems. NCEPU made great contributions to the development of our country in this field. Wish NCEPU make more contribution to the development of new energy through this subject.

      Chen Shuoyi, director of Energy Department of Advanced Technology Research Centre of MOST, introduced the background, development of “863 Plan”, and the specific requirements in the aspects of financial management, credit record, etc.

      Professor Bi Tianshu, sponsor of the “Power Grid Protection Control Technology of Adapting to Large-scale Intermittent Power Access”, an “863 Plan” project, introduced the whole situation of the project and management rules of implementation. 

      Li Gengyin, professor of NCEPU, He Zhengyou, professor of Southwest Jiaotong University, Bi Tianshu, professor of NCEPU gave their reports respectively.

      During the meeting, the research group discussed with experts about the related contents and problems of this subject, and listened to their suggestions.
