Students from Baoding Campus Achieved Success in Mechanical Innovation and Design Competition

      Report from Baoding campus: The preliminary of the Second Hebei College Student Mechanical Innovation and Design Competition--the Fifth National College Student Mechanical Innovation and Design Competition in Hebei ended on April 29^th in Ordnance Engineering College of People's Liberation Army. Through demonstration, defense and other rounds of contest, the “Household Robot” designed by students of NCEPU Zhao Lujia, Pei Shaotong, Zhou Guangyang, Huang Ying, and Zhao Yachuan, won the first prize and qualified for the Fifth National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation and Design Competition.

      The National College Student Mechanical Innovation and Design Competition is an important national science and technology activity for college students, which is held by Department of Higher Education in Ministry of Education, aiming at cultivating students' innovative ability in designing and practicing . A total of 95 works from 21 colleges and universities of Hebei participated in the competition. The theme of the competition is “Living a Happy Life--Today and Tomorrow”, with the content of “The Design and Production of Entertainment Machinery and Household Machinery”. NCEPU had selected six works for the competition, achieving one first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes.

      NCEPU also took part in Hui Yu Contest of the Fifth National College Student Mechanical Innovation and Design Competition--the Seventh National Hui Yu Engineering and Technical Innovation and Design Competition, which was held in Three Gorges University. Four works from NCEPU which matched the theme and was close to daily life, entertainment and leisure, reflected their pursuit for high quality of life. Of them, High Glass Wall Cleaning Robot won the second prize, Watering Robot, Fire-Fighting Robot and Automatic Room Service Mechanical Car won the third prize, and meanwhile NCEPU was granted the Outstanding Organization Award.

      All entries of NCEPU, with novelty, feasibility, fully demonstrated the designers' abilities in designing and applying mechanical products. The success achieved indicated that, state-level engineering training center of the university played an important role in improving students' initiative, and NCEPU students showed their ability as well as spirit of carrying out scientific innovation.
