NCEPU Students Achieved Success in Program “Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars”

      On April 27, the winners of the “Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars” were announced. This activity was organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Students Federation.

      After strict selection and recommendation, Li Yansong, from Class 9 in School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was entitled 2011 annual Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars, and Wang Haidong, from Automatic Class 0803 in School of Control and Computer Engineering, earned nomination. In addition, they won the 5000 Yuan and 2000 Yuan of New Oriental Self-Improvement scholarships. The colleges and universities in Beijing whose students won the title of  2011 Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Star -- North China Electric Power University, Tsinghua University and other two universities, was reported by China Youth Daily  (the fifth edition of April 27).

      The program “Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars” was organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Students Federation, undertook by China Youth Daily and the China University Media, and also supported by New Oriental Education & Technology Group.

      The program started in December of 2011, and attracted a total of 5206 participants from 921 universities across the country. Students who were eligible for the recommendation reached more than 2450. After strict selection and recommendation, a total of 10 Chinese College Students Self-Improvement models, 100 Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars and 800 Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars nominations were awarded.

      Over the years, the school attaches great importance to finding the students who are self-enterprising and hardworking. She also creates good atmosphere of self-reliance, displays and shapes the positive image of contemporary college students, and further promotes the construction of healthy spirit.

      The program, organized by University Students Self-Management Committee, is in the fifth session. Through the assessment activities, some self-reliant students are excavated, such as Gong qun who won Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars nomination award in 2009, Li Juanjuan who won Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Stars nomination award in 2010, and Li Yansong and Wang Haidong of this time.

      We firmly believe that taking these winners as examples, NCEPU students will be more optimistic and initiative. They will achieve more success in the process of school spirit construction.
