President Liu Attended CEC Chairman Conference

      The first China Electricity Council (CEC)Chairman Conference in 2012 was held in Wuxi from April 22^nd to April 23^rd. Liu Zhenya, Chairman of CEC, President and Secretary of Party Committee of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC)  presided over the conference. Main leaders of CEC, and NCEPU President Liu Jizhen, Vice Chariman of CEC attended the conference.

      The conventioners listened to the report “State Grid Corporation Power Grid Planning Research” by Guo Jianbo, President of China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI), and “Issues Related to Electric Power Development” by Shu Yinbiao, Vice President and the Party Committee member of SGCC. Furthermore, the conventioners listened to and discussed the report “Recent Work of CEC” by Sun Yucai, Standing Vice Chairman of CEC, “Forecast Report on Drawing up Electric Power Supply” and“Demand Analysis in Three Years and Report on Carrying out Benchmarking Work in Electric Power Industry” by Wei Shaofeng, fulltime Vice Chairman of CEC, and Electric Power Organizational Reform Research by Wang Zhixuan, Secretary of CEC.

      Chairman Liu Zhenya delivered an important speech. He analyzed the current industry situation and pointed out that national macro-economy is faced with great uncertainties, electric power supply-and-demand situation takes on new characteristics, and electric power development is hence in the period of reform. Therefore, changing the old-fashioned energy allocation mode---overly dependence on coal handling and old electric power development mode---partition balance as soon as possible, and solving the problem of shortage of coal and electricity, is quite important to ensure electric power supply and achieve sustainable development of electric power industry. He proposed three points for electric power industry to unify understanding and unite together: firstly, develop the outlook of “greater energy” and persistently takes electricity as the center; secondly, insist on integrated planning so as to push the healthy and coordinated development of electric power industry; thirdly, form global outlook and establish large-scale energy corporation. In the meantime, he put forward some demands and hopes for CEC to further exert its functions.

      President Liu Jizhen made a speech on scientific development of national energy electric power industry. He said that on account of the growing demands for energy, how to ensure energy supply and energy safety, decrease energy consumption, reduce environmental pollution, as well as cope with climate change have become the global common view and major topics of energy development. China has taken new energy exploitation and utilization, energy saving and emission reduction, smart grid development as the important strategy of national energy development as well.

      He stated that to cope with current difficulties and challenges faced with energy electric power, we should find solutions from an overall and strategic perspective by carrying out structural and mechanism reform. As a national key university featured by energy and electric power discipline, NCEPU has closely centered on high-level talents cultivation and scientific innovation, and consistently promoted education quality and school-running level. For years, NCEPU has cultivated and provided numerous specialized talents for energy electric power industry and enterprises, extended production-study-research cooperation with industry, taken part in a series of major research programs and topics in pushing industry scientific progress, achieving important research results and making contributions in serving the development of national electric power career.

      Mr. Liu pointed out that NCEPU, under the new circumstances, would further reinforce cooperation with industries and enterprises, give full play to science and talent advantages, conduct basic research, cutting-edge research and major strategic research closely related to the development of national energy electric power industry through collaborative innovation in order to provide bigger and better support for sustainable and healthy development of energy electric power.
