At 9:00 a.m. on April 17th, sponsored by Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) as well as China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and co-organized by North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) and Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (BUPT), the opening ceremony of “China-Pakistan Youth Scientist Forum” with the theme of “Create Bright Future: Science, Society and Progress” was held in China Center of International Science and Technology.
The conference was attended by vice president of CPAFFC, Mr. Feng Zuoku, vice-secretary of CAST, Mr. Xu Yanhao, and Counsellor from Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Mr. Zahoor Ahmed, In addition, several young scientists from China and Pakistan participated in this forum. Liu Chongru, associate professor from School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and Dr. Lu Qiang from School of Renewable Energy in NCEPU attended the meeting and gave important lectures. Ms. Luan Yutao from the Asian-African Department of CPAFFC hosted the meeting. This conference agenda includes: opening session, academic speeches and visits & communication. Firstly, vice president of CPAFFC Feng Zuoku addressed the opening ceremony. He spoke highly of the friendly relationship between China and Pakistan over the years and expressed hopes in the future cooperation of the two sides in science and technology.
Then Xu Yanhao, vice secretary of CAST made a speech. He pointed out that Sci-Tech is inseparable from innovation that depended on young talents. He hoped this forum could act as a platform for communication, which would help promote scientific progress of the two countries. Finally, Mr. Zahoor Ahmed, Counselor from Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan delivered a speech in the opening ceremony. Affirming the friendly relations between China and Pakistan, Mr. Zahoor Ahmed highly commended the technological development in China, and was fully confident in the future of Sci-Tech development in the two countries. Soon after, all present staff had a group photo taken to mark the occasion outside in front of the Hall of Science And Technology.
The meeting is followed by academic speeches. Several young scientists from Pakistan and BUPT, together with associate professor Liu Chongru and Dr. Lu Qiang from NCEPU gave excellent lectures on hot spots such as computer wireless network, mobile communication, smart grid, new energy etc., received enthusiastic applause from the audience. During free discussion, positive interaction occurred among young scientists, between young scientists and outstanding student representatives from China and Pakistan, pushing the meeting to a climax.
On April 18th, a group for academic exchange, made up of staff from CAST, four Pakistani young scientists and approximately 30 Pakistani oversea students, visited NCEPU, China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) and BUPT. At 9:00 a.m., the visiting group of about 40 came to NCEPU. They paid the first visit to the key laboratory of Ministry of Education “Power System Protection and Dynamic Security Monitor” in School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, accompanied by associate professor Liu Chongru who gave an excellent introduction. Then the group came to state engineering laboratory for biomass in School of Renewable Energy, with Dr. Lu Qiang as a guide. At 14:00 p.m., the visiting group came to BUPT and made a visit to State Key Laboratory for Switching & Networks. Up to this point, this China-Pakistan Youth Scientific Forum came to a successful end. This forum not only provides a platform for academic exchange between the scientists from the two countries, but also is of strategic significance to promote the scientific progress of both countries and deepen their friendship.
