In the afternoon of April 16, the opening ceremony of 2012 KAMFEI Spring Camp for Overseas Chinese Teenagers—Trave for language Practice in Beijing was held in NCEPU. General Li Xianguo, Deputy Secretary of Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, Li Gang, Deputy Director of The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, Sun Zhongquan, Vice President of NCEPU Pan Fangfang, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and Huang Duanming, Vice Chairman of the Philippines Chinese Education Research Center attended the opening ceremony and gave speeches. International Cooperation Division Chief and Executive Vice president of Institute of International Education Liu Yongqian chaired the opening ceremony.
Deputy Secretary-General Li Xianguo expressed gratitude in his speech for the substantial supports from The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, NCEPU and the Philippines Chinese Education Research Center. He hoped the campers would fully appreciate Chinese culture, and achieve great success. Deputy Director Li Gang said that it was meaningful for the campers to travel long distances to Beijing for Spring Camp to study Chinese and to appreciate Chinese culture. Chinese civilization of five thousand years gave birth to the great Chinese nation and a long history and culture. The profound Chinese culture was not only the spiritual pillar of the Chinese nation, but also the source of strength which inspired the Chinese nation to make progress and improve ourselves. Beijing was a modernized city with a long history and rich culture where the overseas teenagers would have a memorable experience in Beijing. Vice President Sun Zhongquan said that, NCEPU was a Subordinate Universities of Ministry of Education and key university of national 211-Project, 985-Project, Over the past decade, NCEPU had been concerned about Chinese education. It successfully hosted the Chinese language training Summer Camp for Philippines Students in Beijing in 2008 and 2009, and gathered a wealth of experience. NCEPU considered it a great honor and great responsibility to co-organize 2012 KAMFEI Chinese language training spring Camp for Overseas Chinese Teenagers, and the university would integrate the high-quality educational resources, and design activities elaborately to strive to make this year's spring camp a perfect travel for language practice. Vice Chairman of Philippines Chinese Education Research Center Huang Duanming introduced Philippines’ Chinese education and expressed sincere thanks to all the organizations that supported this program. He said that, the Philippines Chinese Education Research Center had been arranging the overseas Chinese teenagers to China for the Spring/Summer/Winter Camp for 21 years, and more than 10,000 people took part in the program. As the capital of China, Beijing, with rich resources and culture heritage, had dominant position in training the overseas Chinese teenagers' language. He hoped that this program would produce more Masters of Chinese language and more Ambassadors of Friendship between China and Philippines. Deputy Director of Second Section in Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China Xiong Zhiyuan, Director of Propaganda Section of The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Guan Yingwu, Party Secretary Li Yang, Vice Dean Duan Chunming, Vice Party Secretary Jiang Liangjie and Professor Huo Yueli from School of International Education attended the opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, the officials took photos with the camp leaders, and visited the places where the campers study, dine and accommodate. KAMFEI Spring Camp was hosted by Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, organized jointly by The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipal and School of International Education of NCEPU, and sponsored by KAMFEI Group. Nearly 50 Chinese-Filipino participated in the ceremony. They will have an intensive one month course in Beijing. In addition to learning Chinese language and Chinese culture, they will also visit interesting places like the Olympic venues and appreciate folk culture in Beijing.
