President Liu Jizhen Met with Zhou Yunfan, Deputy Districtor of Changping District

      On the afternoon of April 6th, President Li Jizhen met with Zhou Yunfan, Deputy Districtor of Beijing Changping District, and his party, Li Wanbai, director of Beijing Changping Science and Technology Commission,  Liu Ziyu, director of Shahe Higher Education Park Commission.They came to communication with NCEPU to get several suggestions about promoting the establishment of Beijing Hi-Tech University Alliance (Beijing Tech) in Changping District. Wang Qinghua, director of President Office and Hu Sangao, director of University-Enterprise Cooperation Office also attended the meeting.

      President Liu firstly expressed warm welcome to Zhou Yufan and his party, and extended thanks to Changping District Party Committee and Government for their long-time concern and support. Mr. Liu pointed out that the Ministry of Education had proposed new demands for the innovative ability improvement of higher education in terms of major needs in basic and cutting-edge disciplines, district economy development, cultural transmission and innovation, responding to General Secretary Hu Jintao’s talk at centennial anniversary of Tsinghua University. Under the circumstance, in order to strengthen high level profession characteristic university’s supporting and leading role in national and district innovation system, enhance the incubation of university scientific achievements with core competence in this district, Beijing Hi-Tech intended to build Beijing Tech Research Institution in Changping District, cooperate with hi-tech enterprises and scientific research institutes there, make connection and cooperation among industry, learning and research, and give full play to alliance, improve connotation of university, promote the development of pillar industry and emerging industry in Changping District.

      President Liu said that, on one hand, with the establishment of Shahe Higher Education Park, North Beijing Innovation Center and Future Technology Town in recent years, Changping District had formed a well atmosphere of industry, learning and research. On the other hand, Changping District had the space to construct multidisciplinary integrated research institutes, headquarters of Beijing Hi-Tech and engineering practice center with international level, making the establishment and operation of alliance feasible. President Liu hoped that Changping District would continue offering attract and support substantive policy to support the Beijing Hi-Tech settled in Changping.

      Director Zhou Yunfan expressed that Changping District Party Committee and the District Government welcomed and supported the establishment of Beijing Hi-Tech. He said that each university of Beijing Hi-Tech was of great significance to the country in the aspect of scientific research and the development of industry, learning and research. The establishment was a real opportunity to promote industrialization of scientific research achievementsthrough institutional innovation, which would make great contribution to talents cultivation and Changping economic development.

      Director Zhou also said that the establishment of Beijing Hi-Tech in Changping District should give preference to higher education zone, making the center for scientific achievement industrialization, reinforcement of subject interaction and formation of the join forces of scientific research resource. The establishment process should be boosted step by step under the determined general idea, endeavoring to make stage achievement within the Twelve-Five period.

      The two parties exchanged views on some specific issues, and reached initial consensus, and would like to enhance cooperation and promote the establishment of Beijing Hi-Tech early settled in Changping District.
