President Liu Jizhen delivered a warm speech at the ceremony. President Liu extended warm welcome to chairman of the board He Yu and the delegation and sincerely thanks for their support to NCEPU. He said that China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG), which shouldered the historical mission of “Developing clean energy and contributing to human society”, had been devoted to China’s nuclear power progress, with world top-level plants operation, maintenance, technological support, quality management, etc.

As a national key university affiliated with the Ministry of Education, officially listed as one of the “211 Project” universities, and featured by energy and electricity disciplines, NCEPU had always been serving energy and electricity industry in the past 50 years ever since its foundation. Regarding the strategic needs for high level talents and technological innovation in China’s nuclear development, NCEPU had formed the nuclear-electricity discipline system integrated with power, electricity and nuclear engineering. Moreover, NCEPU was devoted to exploration and exploitation of renewable energy and clean energy. The first major of Energy and Power Engineering in China was set up in 2003, China’s first Renewable Energy School was founded in 2007, and the Institute of Energy and Environment was established in 2009. Then 2009 witnessed the first recruitment of undergraduates majoring in Solar Energy. All these had laid a solid foundation for deeper and more comprehensive cooperation between NCEPU and CGNPC.

NCEPU had kept long-term and stable cooperative relationship with CGNPC. Since 2005, the two sides had carried on an “order plus cooperation” model in joint training of nuclear power talents for seven consecutive years, cultivating approximately 800 graduates. This model, highly valued by Ministry of Education, was an exploration for training talents through enterprise-university cooperation and joint training. Currently, the two sides were planning extensive and in-depth cooperation.

President Liu Jizhen said that it was of great strategic importance for large scale enterprise group and key universities to cooperate so as to achieve mutual coordinated development. The strategic cooperation agreement signed today was a significant and historical event for the two parties, as well as an important measure for giving full play to advantages, coordinative innovation and common progress. He believed that CGNPC and NCEPU would make contributions to the common ideal of “strengthening China’s nuclear power” with joint efforts.

CGNPG Party member and deputy general manager Tan Jiansheng expressed respect toward teaching staff and students in NCEPU on behalf of all NCEPU graduates working in CGNPG, and also extended heart-felt thanks for support from NCEPU in talent cultivation, scientific research and personnel training. Tan said that NCEPU and CGNPG had implemented innovative and long-lasting cooperation in talents cultivation. In the seven-year “order plus combination” model, they jointly trained over 800 talents specializing in nuclear power, who played a essential role in CGNPG’s progress. He also commented that it was of essence for CGNPG to possess versatile, internationalized higher personnel and key technology with intellectual property rights. The strategic cooperation framework agreement signed up that day was vital for CGNPG.

At the ceremony, CGNPG deputy general manager Tan Jiansheng and NCEPU vice president Li Mingfu signed the University-enterprise Cooperation Framework Agreement on behalf of the two sides.

Before the ceremony, NCEPU president Liu Jizhen and CGNPG chairman He Yu met and talked in the VIP room of the main building.

Chairman He Yu expressed gratitude for NCEPU’s care and support for CGNPG. He introduced the current situation of production operations, safety, clean energy development, and overseas market broadened by CGNPG. For years, CGNPG had explored a new way for development: “introduction, digestion, absorption and recreation” in technology and research. Currently, CGNPG was striving to manufacture more products with national independent intellectual property so as to build a “world-class clean energy group”. Mr. He Yu stated that, NCEPU had achieved remarkable results in recent years and he was sincerely proud of his alma mater as an alumnus. He hoped that with the strategic cooperation framework agreement, the two sides could further promote cooperation in technology research and development, talents cultivation and other fields, and would build a favorable platform for win-win development.

President Liu Jizhen said that, CGNPG had made great contribution to the development of nuclear power in China, and promoted the setting up and development of Nuclear Science and Engineering in NCEPU. NCEPU had been serving the national energy and power development, providing talents and technology support for energy and power industry development while actively adjusting development strategy and building the “big power” disciplinary system. NCEPU had formed educational characteristics by depending on and serving industry, and developed university-enterprise cooperation. The agreement with CGNPG aimed at further strengthening mutual communication and exchange, carrying out strong, substantive, strategic and all-round cooperation at higher and wider levels.

President Liu Jizhen and chairman of the board He Yu exchanged gifts.

Xu Hong, dean of Energy & Power Engineering School, Liu Shi, dean of Control Science & Engineering School, and Lu Daogang, dean of Nuclear Science & Engineering School, introduced the current situation and prospect in disciplinary setting, scientific research and platform building to chairman of the board He Yu respectively.
