At 8 am on December 10th, the Capital University Sepa Takraw League was held at Yifu Stadium in Minzu University of China. Athletes from North China Electric Power University, Tsinghua University, Minzu University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing University of Agriculture participated in the competition. Led by Li Wenzhong and Li Liang, NCEPU team won first prize in the competition. Though being defeated by Tsinghua University, the runner-up of the 3rd league, with a score of 1:2 in the first round, NCEPU team tenaciously strived to enter the semifinal, in which NCEPU team won after vanquishing the Beijing University of Agriculture. Tsinghua University team won over China University of Political Science and Law (third winner and champion of the last competition respectively in the other semifinal. In the final, NCEPU managed to won the first prize with the final score of 2:0. As the blackhorse of this competition, NCEPU team gained recognition from both the spectators and referees. Originating from Malaysia and getting popular in Southeast Asia, Sepa takraw gains greater popularity in Asia after being included by the Asian Games. Sepa takraw is said to be “played like football under rules of volleyball in the badminton court”. The great efforts and spirit of perseverance of the team helps them earn first prize as well as honor for NCEPU.
