NCEPU Participated in the Fourth Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member Countries “Borderless Education” Education Week

        Report from Baoding campus: The Fourth Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member Countries “Borderless Education” Education Week was held in Moscow from November 6th and 9th. Representatives from 62 universities of member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization including Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and the Russian Federation attended the activity on invitation. NCEPU president assistant Yin Chengqun and Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department Liu Jianfu were present.

 

 

        University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (USCO) was advocated by former Russian President Putin on August 16th 2007 at the summit meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization with unanimous consent from other member countries. In 2008, Russian came up with the idea of establishing USCO, with the aim to set up a network for universities of member countries, strengthen cooperation and promote students and faculty exchange among member countries. It was approved in the Conference of Ministers of Education among SCO member countries, in which 5 preferred items were determined: energy, ecology, region, nanotechnology, IT technology etc. With preponderant subjects in power energy, NCEPU was chosen as one of the first ten project universities of USCO and appointed as the leading Chinese university in energy by Ministry of Education.

 

 

       On the morning of November 7th, the Fourth Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member Countries “Borderless Education” Education Week was opened at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (PFUR), presided by the former Minister of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and present academician of PFUR Filipov. Government representatives from 5 SCO countries gave congratulatory speeches. On behalf of NCEPU President Liu Jinzhen, president assistant Yin Chengqun, together with other 61 universities, jointly signed the USCO Memorandum.

 

 

        International conference on “USCO: Interactive and Innovation Foundation of Multilateral Education System” was held in the afternoon. On behalf of Chinese universities engaged in power energy, president assistant Yin Chengqun addressed in the conference. He summarized work done by Chinese universities in power energy, introduced subject advantages of NCEPU in energy and electricity, and expressed the hope to cooperate successfully with other universities and colleges. Finally, he expressed three wishes: firstly, to hold a meeting among universities engaged in energy promptly and discussjoint training of postgraduates through SCO; secondly, to consolidate and strengthen cooperation and friendship among member countries through education, scientific research and technology exchange; thirdly, to ensure the implementation of joint training plan and the input and output of talents, provide more opportunities for teaching and researching staff as well as make contributions to world energy studies.

        On November 8th, the group discussion on progress of USCO in five directions was conducted. In terms of cooperation, mutual development among the energy colleges and universities, assistant president Yin Chengqun exchanged ideas with other university representatives on fundamental research, frontier research, generic technology etc, and suggested that cooperation in new scientific field should be expanded and that exchanges should be further strengthened under the framework of SCO. In the end, the group discussion reached agreement and signed meeting minutes in energy field.

        In the closing ceremony, president assistant Yin Chengqun and other representatives from 14 Chinese universities signed “Borderless Education” Bilateral Cooperation Protocol  with their Russian counterparts.

 

 

        During the education week, Mr. Yin Chengqun exchange ideas with Moscow Power Engineering Institute in Russia, Almaty  Energy and Communication University in Kazakhstan, State Technical University in Kyrgyzstan, hoping to promote cooperation in scientific research and talent cultivation through the platform of USCO.
