11 Universities Established Beijing Tech

       On October 19^th, the Inaugural Ceremony of Beijing Tech was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Attended were Du Yubo, Vice Minister of Ministry of Education, Chen Xiaoya, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhu Gaofeng, the former Executive Vice President and now academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Sun Jiaguang, Vice Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China and the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Xie Sizhong, member of the national committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of Board of Supervisors of Key State-owned Enterprises, Jiang Peimin, Deputy Secretary and Director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Railways. On behalf of NCEPU, Secretary of the Party Committee Wu Zhigong, and President Liu Jizhen attended the inaugural ceremony.Beijing Tech University Alliance, was jointly founded by 11 universities including NCEPU, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China University of Geosciences, China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing, China University of Petroleum, Beijing, Beijing Forestry University, Xidian University and Harbin Engineering University.

        The member universities of Beijing Tech were engaged into many important engineering fields, such as electronic information, communications, metallurgy, chemical technology, electric power, geosciences, mining, petroleum, forestry and nuclear industry, and each university featured its own outstanding discipline advantages and distinct characteristics in operation. Up to now, Beijing Tech is the biggest university alliance with all-round cooperation.

      Aiming at “develop special features, share resources, strengthen collaborative innovation, promote talent cultivation” and standing at the forefront of science development and talent cultivation, Beijing Tech will do its best to cultivate top-level engineering talents and make breakthrough in high-level engineering talent education, create an innovative platform for both universities and enterprises by promoting economic restructuring and industrial upgrading, improving vitality of industries and enhancing the core competency of the enterprises.

      During the inaugural ceremony Du Yubo, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, congratulated on the founding of Beijing Tech. In his opinion, Beijing Tech, formed by 11 high-level universities with  outstanding contributions to national economic and social development, was of strategic significance. The Ministry of Education would continue exploring new modes for cooperation of universities, institutions, enterprises both at home and abroad to promote reform in talent cultivation, scientific research and mechanism innovation. Mr. Du Yubo hoped that Beijing Tech would improve talent cultivation, actively promote scientific breakthrough, facilitate all-round cooperation in order to set a successful model of university alliance in China.

      Du Yubo and Chen Xiaoya unveiled the plaque for Beijing Tech. Paris Institute of Technology sent a letter of congratulation and expressed wish for mutual development and cooperation.

      On behalf of NCEPU, President Liu Jizhen signed a strategic cooperation agreement with representatives of other member universities.

      Zhu Gaofeng, the former Executive Vice-President and now the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a speech at the ceremony. He wished that Beijing Tech would explore engineering education in both theory and practice, combine science and technology with humanities such as sociology, economics and pedagogy, integrate high-quality resources of all those universities, so as to make contribution to development of engineering construction.

      Beijing Tech would promote all-round cooperation and communication in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research, faculty construction, enrollment and employment, international cooperation and campus culture and would issue regulations.

      After the inaugural ceremony, President Liu Jizhen was interviewed by CCTV, China Daily, China Youth Daily, and Beijing Daily. Mr.  Liu Jizhen was confident that Beijing Tech would promote cooperative innovation, exert good effect on discipline construction and scientific research, and maximize sharing high-quality education resources in talent cultivation.
