On October 12th, President Liu Jizhen met with President Kim Han-Joong, Vice President Kim Donghoon and Park Jin Ick, Chief of Prdsident Office from Yonsei University, South Korea. Attendees also included NCEPU Vice President Yang Yongping, Liu Yongqian, Director of International Cooperation Department, and Xu Lingling, Deputy Director. At the beginning, President Liu extended warm welcome to the guests from South Korea. President Liu said that NCEPU attached great importance to exchange and cooperation with South Korean universities. President Kim appreciated the chance to visit NCEPU. He said that Yonsei University, a well-known university with a long history and high international reputation, was identified as one of the three top universities in South Korea together with Seoul National University and Korea University. Enjoying the name of “Tsinghua University” in South Korea, it also thinks high of cooperation with high-level universities in China. Subsequently, the two presidents communicated over the student-exchange projects. NCEPU signed a student-exchange agreement with Yonsei University in April this year, according to which students from the two universities can apply to the other university for one-year study free of tuition fees. The first student from NCEPU went to study at Yonsei University in August, 2011. On the basis of mutual cooperation, President Liu hoped the two universities could extend cooperation to scientific research and establish a renewable energy research center. President Kim was willing to cooperate with NCEPU in this field.
