Graduate School of NCEPU Established

At 10 o’clock of September 22nd, the Inaugural Conference of the NCEPU Gradate School was held in the multi-function meeting room. Vice President An Liansuo presided the conference, which was attended by Fu Zhifeng, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Dong Shuangwu, head of CPC Committee for Discipline Inspection of Hebei Electric Power Corporation, Ren Rongfei, director of Hebei Degree Office, Wu Zhigong, Secretary of the NCEPU Committee of the CPC, President Liu Jizhen, representatives of all departments, schools, supervisors and graduate students.

Wu Zhigong, Secretary of the NCEPU Committee of the CPC, released Notice on Establishing NCEPU Graduate School. With continuous hard work in the past 30 years, NCEPU made great progress in discipline construction, supervisor management as well as scale and quality and graduate education. NCEPU established the Graduate School officially to recruit and cultivate graduate students, confer degrees, manage supervisors and deal with other issues.

President Liu Jizhen extended warm welcome and heart-felt thanks to all guests on behalf of the NCEPU Party Committee and administrative cadres. By reviewing the development of graduate education in NCEPU, he stressed the importance of graduate education in construction of an innovative country and the significance of establishing the Graduate School in building a high-level university, and put forward the ideas and measurement for reform of graduate education. As a milestone in the development of graduate education, the establishment of Graduate School marked a new stage for NCEPU.

President Liu Jizhen raised the following four suggestions to continuously promote the overall reform of graduate education. Firstly, promote discipline and degree construction with “985” Advantageous Discipline Innovative Platform as a turning point and by improving the “Great Power” disciplinary system. Secondly, improve system construction of graduate education evaluation and cultivate more high-end talents. Thirdly, intensify talents cultivation by production-study-research cooperation. Fourthly, combine professional quality cultivation with moral education to improve education and management of graduate students.

Mr. Fu Zhifeng expressed congratulation to NCEPU and staff dedicated to graduate education on behalf of Beijing Municipal Education Commission. He believed the establishment of NCEPU Graduate School marked a new stage for graduate education of NCEPU. Beijing Municipal Education Commission would support NCEPU’s development, and hoped NCEPU to continuously explore graduate education modes and raise quality so as to offer intellectual support in building a new Beijing City and an innovative country.

Ren Rongfei, representing Hebei Degree Office, congratulated NCEPU over the formal establishment of Graduate School, which was a great event not only for NCEPU but also for higher education in Hebei Province. He wished NCEPU could offer valuable experience for universities in Hebei on running high-level universities and cultivating high-level, innovative and application-oriented talents.

Dong Shuangwu, head of CPC Committee for Discipline Inspection of Hebei Electric Power Corporation, also congratulated NCEPU Graduate School and thanked NCEPU for support offered in the past years. He spoke high of the overall cooperation between NCEPU and Hebei Electric Power Corporation in talents cultivation and scientific research, and said the “two-stage, double-supervisor” cultivation mode was proved to be effective. Hebei Electric Power Corporation wanted to share resource with NCEPU in talents cultivation, scientific research and technology transfer to make contribution in building an innovative country with sufficient talents.

Mr. Wang Zengping, head of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, expressed heartfelt thanks for all staff who worked hard for the establishment of the Graduate School. In his opinion, graduate education could be improved by cultivating sense of responsibility and innovative ideas among graduate students, intensify construction and management of staff, and improving quality of graduate education.

Professor Cui Xiang, a representative of doctoral and master supervisors, expressed sincere congratulation to NCEPU, and promised to worked hard in graduate education and scientific research to make contribution to building a high-level university.

Fu Zhifeng, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Wu Zhigong, Secretary of the NCEPU Committee of the CPC, unveiled the inauguration board of Graduate School of NCEPU.

Vice President An Liansuo considered that the establishment of Graduate School was an important measure taken by NCEPU to meet the needs of “rejuvenating the country through science and education” and “revitalizing the country with talents”, cultivate high-level innovative talents for national power supply and other fields, and build a high-level, research-oriented university. With guidance of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and other relevant senior units and support of enterprises and other sectors, NCEPU will take the opportunity of establishing Graduate School to improve graduate education quality, cultivated more high-quality and innovative talents, and make contribution to economic construction and social development in China.
