NCEPU Successfully Held Chinese Language Culture Experience for Summer Camp Delegation of Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University

       The Chinese Language Culture Experience Summer Camp for teachers and students from the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University was held from July 13 to 26 in NCEPU. 19 teachers and students from the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University experienced the rich and colorful Chinese language and culture in both Beijing campus and Baoding campus. Deputy Secretary of NCEPU Party Committee Zhang Jinhui and President Assistant Lv Fangcheng warmly welcomed all members of the summer camp. Staff of the International Cooperation Department and the International Education Institution carefully organized the camp and arranged everything well. In all, this camp acquired support from all NCEPU staff and departments.

        The opening ceremony was held on the morning of July 14 in Beijing campus. Liu Yongqian, Director of the International Cooperation Departments, delivered a welcome speech at first, and then teachers responsible for relevant affairs explained specific arrangements and warning against dangerous issues. Those Egyptian teachers and students extended thanks and expectation for a wonderful summer camp.

        Speeches, visits and cultural experience were covered in this summer camp.

        Speeches on China Introduction, Applied Chinese Language, Appreciation of Chinese Dramas, and China Tea Culture were held in Beijing for the teachers and students from Egypt. Speech on China Introduction briefly introduced geography, history, minority ethnic groups, population and economy in China to offer a general view for those Egyptians; speech on Applied Chinese Language offered much opportunity for them to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing daily Chinese; speech on Appreciation of Chinese Dramas enabled them to acquire basic knowledge on Pecking Opera, Pingju Opera and Yuju Opera with appreciation of classical Chinese traditional dramas; furthermore, speech on China Tea Culture presents the charm of China Tea Culture with its history, manners to taste tea, selection of tea leaves and sets. With these speeches of rich content and vairous forms, the knowledgeble Chinese teachers prepared the Egyptions for culture experience activities.

        In addition to the speeches, these Egyptian teachers and students also appreciated the long history, wonderful culture, beatiful scenery and traditional local customs and practices in China by visiting NCEPU Beijing Campus, Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), Juyongguan Great Wall, Tian’anmen Square, the Palace Museum, Wangfujing Street, Silk Market and Zhongguancun Science and Technology Center.

        On July 20, these Egyptian teachers and students went to Baoding, and visited NCEPU Baoding campus, China Electricity Valley, Baiyangdian Lake Park, Zhenhua Martial Arts School and the business district there. In addition, they went to Tianjin to further feel the traditional Chinese culture in the Ancient Culture Street and taste delicious Chinese food in Nanshi Food Street.

       The Egyptias also learnt about the basic forms, general history and features of Chinese calligraphy and painting. They tried to write and paint with writing brushes with instruction of Chinese teachers to comprehend the charm of Chinese calligraphy and painting.    

          During the party held for artistic communication and experience, NCEPU staff and students played tradition Chinese instruments such as Erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument), Suona (Chinese horn) and Guzheng (a 21- or 25-stringed plucked instrument), sang Chinese songs and danced to present the Chinese culture. Those Egyptians sang several songs in Chinese. All these performances won heartfelt applause from audiences.

       The visit to Zhenhua Martial Arts School left a deep impression for these Egyptians. The shows included Chinese wrestling, breaking bricks and stones, and wielding the 18 traditiaonal Chinese weapons. The Egyptians couldn’t resist performing martial arts themselves with guidance of martial art masters there.

          For experiencing new energy technology, these Egyptian teachers and students visited Yingli Green Energy and AVIC Huiteng Windpower Equipment Co., LTD, two top new energy enterprises in China Electricity Valley. They saw how people make use of the solar energy and windpower in production, and spoke highly of new energy and new and high technology in China.

        The picturesque campus, advanced teaching equipments and sound environment in the dining rooms and library of NCEPU Baoding campus impressed the Egyptian teachers and students, who were satisfied by the beatiful natural scenery, profound culture and ever-developing economy.

        The summer camp lasting for two weeks came to a close on July 26. This 2011 Chinese Language Culture Experience Summer Camp held by NCEPU left a good impression on the teachers and students from the Confucius Institute of Suze Canal University in Egypt. They spoke highly of the sound arrangement and service, and wished to build a better Confucious Institute with well cooperation between NCEPU and Suez Canal University.
