NCEPU holds General Election Conference of Executive Leadership

    On the afternoon of June 8th, NCEPU holds The General Election Conference of Executive Leadership in the form of video conference both in Beijing and Baoding campus simultaneously. The conference is hosted by NCEPU Party Secretary Wu Zhigong which is attended by all school leaders, president assistants, members of Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Committee, all middle-level cadres, NPC representatives and CPPCC members, representatives of professors, leaders of democratic parties, representatives of the 17th Party Congress and representatives of retired staff.

    Party organization of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Committee attach great importance to the leadership construction of NCEPU. Under the provisions of Leadership Tenure System, from March 22nd to 23rd, 2011, Personnel Department of the Ministry of Education, Organization Department of Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Municipal Education Committee sent an investigation group to study the present leadership system of NCEPU in various ways. Given the investigation and the actual situation of NCEPU, Party Organization and Beijing Municipal Committee decide on candidates for new leadership of NCEPU: Liu Jizhen is appointed as President. An Liansuo, Li Heming, Yang Yongping, Sun Pingsheng, and Sun Zhongquan are appointed as Vice President. Lei Yingqi retire from the post due to age. Li Chengrong is approved to resign for academic research matters.

    Lei Yingqi has been Vice President since November 2001, assisting in logistics, and asset management, etc. He has been working hard and has made vital contributions to the reform and development of NCEPU.

    Li Chengrong has been Vice President since January 1999, in charge of scientific research, international exchange programme and cooperation etc. His hard work and profound academic attainments have earned him high prestige. He also served as leaders of a number of major national research projects in the past years. His contribution is undeniable.
 
    On behalf of the Party Committee and staff and students of NCEPU, Secretary Wu Zhigong expresses deep gratitude to the Party Organization of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Municipal Education Committee for their long-term concern and support. Meanwhile, he expresses thanks and respect to Lei Yingqi and Li Chengrong for their contributions to NCEPU.

    Secretary Wu Zhigong pointed out that NCEPU is at a critical moment for new opportunities and acceleration of development pace. To achieve the goal of building a high-level university, the new executive leadership should strive to live up to three requirements: firstly, be ambitious and confident to carry out the mission; secondly, to study hard to improve themselves and be independent; thirdly, be dare to innovate and do practice. Only in this way can NCEPU promote the cause of the school and could achieve rapid and steady development.

    President Liu first stresses the importance of this election and then extends thanks to the Party Organization of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Municipal Education Committee and NCEPU cadres and staff for their long-lasting trust and support.
    Subsequently, he points out the responsibility confronted by the new leading group. We shall conscientiously implement all the tasks of college reform and development specified in “Twelfth Five-year” Plan. Also, we have to improve leadership ability. To achieve these goals we much combine theoretical study with practice and in particular, dare to innovate and practice. Besides, we should conscientiously implement the Party´s education policy and President Responsibility System led by the Party Committee, make clear the school-running orientation, run school legally, and closely rely on the staff. Education should be student-centered, and school-running should be teacher-centered. We will continue to uphold the philosophy of running a responsible university, and pay close attention to the development of NCEPU and the vital interests of the staff and students.

    At the same time, each member of the new leadership must meet higher requirements of the new situation and be strict with oneself to build fair, just and harmonious cultural atmosphere which is an indispensable part of the construction of a high-level university. The leadership plays a vital role in setting an example in the process of the construction of college culture.
 
   In addition, as General secretary of PRC Hu Jintao pointed explicitly in his speech in Centurial Celebration of Tsinghua University that the most urgent core mission of the education reform of colleges and universities in China is to improve the quality of education, NCEPU should also go all out to improve its education quality.
 
    Finally, President Liu emphasizes that NCEPU should seize the opportunity of Twelfth Five-year Pan calling for rapid development of energy industry and education cause, and work together to make tomorrow better.
 
    Newly appointed Vice President Sun Zhongquan expressed in his speech his sincere gratitude and respect to the trust of the Party Organization of the Ministry of Education, the leadership´s training and care, and the staff’s and students´ support and help. He also promises to study and work hard to improve his ability, be stricter with himself, and provide better service to the staff and students in the future.
