On April 15th, a party of three from City University of Hong Kong (CityU), including Vice President Lin Qunsheng, Professor Chen Li, Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution and Director Lin Zhonghua, visited NCEPU, accompanied by Chair Professor Chen Feng of Peking University and Wang Yunfeng from Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. NCEPU President Liu Jizhen received the Hong Kong guests. Director Tan Qinliang of Major Project Management Office, Director Liu Yongqian of the International Cooperation Office and Vice Dean Niu Fenglei of Nuclear Science & Engineering School also attended the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, President Liu extended warm welcome to the friends from City U. CityU enjoys a high prestige in the Asia-Pacific region and even in the whole world. NCEPU hopes to establish contact with universities in Hong Kong. Vice President Lin of CityU said that after Hong Kong returning to the mainland, universities in Hong Kong and the mainland has had closer contacts and more frequent communications. City U also attached great importance to establishing close contact with universities in the mainland, especially those with distinctive features. Subsequently, both sides introduced the basic situation of the two universities. City U, a university featured by science and engineering disciplinary, has great achievements in electronic engineering, marine environment, materials science and mathematics, which ranks 124 in the World University Ranking in UK Times, and 15 in Asia.
Later, Director Tan Qinliang of Major Project Management Office made a detailed introduction to NCPEU’s general situation, the university’s orientation and developing objectives as well as the international cooperation to the delegation of City U. As City U has newly established School of Energy and Environment and the specialty of Nuclear Science and Engineering, Vice President Lin hoped to learn and communicate with NCEPU in these two areas.
After the meeting, the delegation of City U visited NCEPU’s National Key Laboratory and National Engineering Laboratory.
