National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System of NCEPU, Approved

   According to the Notice on Construction Plan of Organizing to Set up National Key Laboratory issued by the general office of Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on 29th, March, MOST has approved the project “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System”, declared by NCEPU and made it a agenda in 2011 construction plan of national key laboratory.

    Based on the initial evaluation, site-inspection expert group from MOST reevaluated the NCEPU’s project of “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System”, on Jan 26.
  
    In his speech, Liu Jizhen, President of NCEPU, said NCEPU would try her best to construct the laboratory both in the set-up procedure and in the after-approval construction.

    The project of “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System” was approved after full preparation. Combing the discipline superiority of “Bulk Power” and scientific research platform of new energy power system, the project aims to meet national development needs on electric and energy.

    In turn, the foundation of the laboratory will improve the discipline building, laboratory construction and school-running as well as its features of NCEPU, which is of great significance to the overall development of NCEPU.

    President Liu pointed out that since the foundation of NCEPU, the school has been expecting new breakthrough in the construction of national laboratory. The university thinks highly of the declaration and construction of the national key laboratory since it embodies painstaking effort and dream of NCEPU scholars and professors for generations.

    After listening to the report from vice President Li Chengrong, experts inspected ins and outs of the laboratory and communicated with the relevant staff in order to have a throughout understanding of laboratory on the aspects of scientific research work, scientific research level and environment, team foundation, instrument and equipment, operation administration, etc.

    On Jan 27, led by President Liu, personnel of our school attended the meeting organized by MOST, in which they elaborated the orientation of laboratory, its scientific research fields and level, its academic influence, its research team and personnel training, the experimental condition and its operation administration, its connection to the outside, its cultural atmosphere, the support of NCEPU and Ministry of Education (MOE), etc.

    The official site of MOST also officially released the list of 49 new approved national laboratories. Directly supervised by MOE, the “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System” appears on the list, which signifies NCEPU, the support organization of “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System”, has made a strategic breakthrough in the construction of national scientific research platform. Until now, the number of NCEPU technological innovation platform in national level and provincial level has amounted to 14, which symbols the initial establishment of the comparative comprehensive innovative system with reasonable composition and lays a solid foundation for the faster and better development of NCEPU in the following 12th Five Year period.

    Facing the national great demand of developing and the large-scale utilization of new energy and focusing on important scientific and technical problems in new energy system, the “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System” is to carry out innovative activities on the basis of intercross of many subjects, chiefly prospect new energy power system security and economic operational mechanism, closely study the influence of the new energies including wind energy, solar energy, etc. on power system and interaction mechanism and establish a scientific research system for analyzing and controlling of complex power system featured by maximum-time-scale close linkage and high randomicity, thereby giving sci-tech backing to the sustainable development of national traditional energy and national emerging industries.

    Based on the MOE’s key “Laboratory of Power System Protection and Dynamic Security Monitoring”, “National Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System” is the combination of some key scientific and research platforms of MOE including “Laboratory of State Monitoring and Control of Power Plant Equipment”. Therefore, it will be the important base for organizing and applying high-level fundamental research, gathering and cultivating excellent scientists and developing academic exchange. Also, it will be in favor of improving the security and efficiency of new energy power system, perfecting the level and scale of personnel training, speeding up the development and utilization of national new energy and realizing the sustainable and harmonious development of economy and society.
